Interesting that WP have entered their Futures team into the PSA…what impact does this have on their Junior football clubs?
Should NOT be Allowed!
PERIOD!
BEGINNING AND END!
Interesting one this one … Not sure how many PSA kids WP have but usually one school has a bye and now their 1st XViii will be playing WP and usually all the PSA kids get to play colts that week. Now they won’t be able to which is one game less for the colts players.
Not a lot of specifics in the article as to how its going to work.
I took it as WP Futures would likely be playing in the PSA 2nd XVIII comp but if its the 1st XVIII comp then that has a big effect on the WAFL Colts competition.
They would be too strong for most 2nd XViii and it would hurt a lot if they played 1st XViii so can’t wait to see what they are doing.
Not if the other WAFL Clubs’ Boards knock it on the head and Vote NO!
What are the Administrators of West Perth, rather than West Perth, playing at?!

It’s a done deal and its term 2 so futures is actually done for the year so they have asked to continue their program in the PSA as development for futures looking to play colts that season and start end of the year.
This has a chance to impact junior footy on Sundays too as now some of those kids won’t play club.
You’d have to question why WA Football would allow WP to do this given the impact it can have on the WAFL Colts and Junior Football competitions.
Isn’t the WAFL Futures competition specifically run across the end of preseason and the first few rounds of the WAFL season so that it is completed before the Junior competitions start?
How can such a decision be a Done Deal and be allowed to bypass the other WAFL Clubs?
Are the Board at West Perth WAFL Administrators or AFL Administrators?
Whose interests are they really serving in doing this?
Furthermore, why would the PSA Schools stand for it?
Surely if a new School comes into the Private SCHOOLS Association,it’s actually a SCHOOL like Servite College,John XXIII or Peter Moyes School for example?
I’m sure a few other Schools would like to be the 8th School as opposed to a Football Club.
Have West Perth Futures got a College of their own all if a Sudden?
Sacred Heart at Hilary’s by any chance?!
PSA is public schools association not private. It just happens to be the 7 boys private schools.
WP are not impacting any wafl program by putting a team in to PSA. Their obligations are 14’s, 15’s and futures and futures finishes Term 1. They are meeting their WAFL requirement.
The PSA schools all would have had a chance to have their say. They tried to get rid of GGS when they went co-ed but couldn’t do it but allowing one in all 7 schools would have said yes to it for sure. It is their association and they can run it how they see fit just like youth football in WA can and do do whatever they like even if its not in the best interest of the kids and the staff at the youth part are not held accountable in any way shape or form i can assure you of that.
They finish by term 2 in futures and then juniors starts.
Public/Private.
Don’t see any Public Schools there!
You mightn’t see West Perth cause any bother to the WAFL system,
I’m not sure the other Clubs see it that way, unless they want to join up as well?
They can apply … doubt they would get accepted. WP did well to get a foot in the door that’s for sure. PSA is very protective of their product so for this to go through will raise many an eyebrow.
You do realise that the PSA only started with 4 schools and added more as the years went by.
Yeah but they were all schools that got added not a WAFL clubs program.
Tiger beat me to it!
Are they 100% playing the schools first 18?
Is it about player development or is it tactical from WP?
If its first 18 then they will be thinking they don’t have to worry about PSA byes when they come up against other clubs with PSA players.
WP will play in the Yr10 PSA comp
Must need some confidence boosters for their Futures boys to play there.
Still shouldn’t be allowed,or the others all do it as well.
PSA should take their pick and that should be the end of it from there!
