West Perth a "social" club

I find the comments of a former player in today’s West interesting in that the jerkers were a “social” club where partying and drugs were not unknown…those sort of insinuations must be a worry for the club and the WAFC. I wonder if anyone will investigate it further?

I read the article and I think you need to consider that this was a defence lawyer making a submission to try and reduce this young mans culpability and sentence which is what defence lawyers are paid to do. The young man came to Perth from the country and obviously got into the wrong crowd and became a drug user which is very sad. However it is a bit unfair to try and link decisions that he made to a so called “party culture” at a particular football club. As we all know drugs are a scourge which permeate through the whole of society and sports clubs are not immune to these influences. There would almost certainly be a small element of drug use at every WAFL club but I would be very surprised if West Perth was worse than anywhere else.

BC trying to be a smart ass here, there is that much drugs out in the community these days it is horrifying , when you have a teenage son like I do and he tells me the amount of stuff that gets offered around to him it definitely has changed from when I was a young bloke, it is a massive problem.

Wonderful reporting from TheWest Eagle TVW7 East Perth - real classy stuff , bet they couldn’t get this into print quick enough to get into channel 9 & the Cardinals

Perhaps can do an expose of the drug culture of the Eagles and outline whether there has been any long term damage due to that drug culture.

Every club (including Swans) would have players who have or are been involved in drugs. That would also include Subiaco BC.

no chance 42…Daniel Chick and co were saints whilst at Subi…

Any one in any football club, or sports club, who thinks that their team is totally clean of drugs is certainly on mind altering substances.
There is not one work place that doesn’t have the problem.
People in glass houses… etc etc etc.

Sorry BC I didn’t mention Chick. A/man and myself are rarely on the same side; but we are on this one.

Anything said in court should be considered unsubstantiated hearsay … just like all the pontificating about certain clubs salary cap management, all unsubstantiated claptrap, wouldn’t you all agree?
