A good win by the boys over the Seldom Travels.
A good first quarter shattered by the injury to Jon Griffen.Very sad news for him after working so hard to cements his spot in the side.
Big games from Ibbotson and Walters. An all round team effort I thought. Our back line stood firm all night.
A great fill in role played by Zac Dawson. He gave us momentum in the last quarter and won us some handy clearances.A big effort from three gamer Jack Hannath as well.
I wasn’t overly confident at 3/4 time, but the boys found something, and finished up a handy winnning margin.
Another game that in previous years we would have lost and more than likely lost by a big margin.
I think though it shows that it it is hard to defend like we do under Lyon for a full four quarters on Subiaco Oval.
A good win by the boys.
The two things that came out of the game for me were:
Ross Lyon was well and truly worth getting, he is exceptional, tactically and personally with the players.
Freo are a far better footbal team than they have ever been. I thought they were gone just before 3/4 time. Their tackling and skills/pace have improved tremendously
They never give in.
It was a real team effort I thought.I liked the fact that Sutcliffe and Crozier did their bits. They didn’t look out of their depth at all at any stage of the contest.
With guys like Mellington, Michie, Chrichton & Nelae knocking on the door the future looks rosie for us.
The big man scenario isn’t as bright.Sandi Griffen Bradley and Moller all injured.Clarke I am sure isn’t right just yet,so leaves Hannath as our only true ruckman and he has only played three games at this level.A huge task for him.I am sure that he will relish the role, just hope he doesn’t wear out too quickly.
A big game coming up against Sydney this week.We will get Hill and Fyfe back this week.but once again the question, who goes out.Do we bring in another big guy for Griffen,or do we use Dawson again?
Interesting times at the selection table this week.
I think I will keep tipping against us, seems to be working. I can’t help but think the bubble might burst sooner or later. The players will walk over broken glass for RL, everyone just does their job and the pressure they put the opposition under is immense. That was the best win this year by a mile, to blow Collingwood away early and rest the the ascendancy back after they hit the front, only good sides that are well coached do that.
Losing Griffen is heart breaking for him and us supporters. I was worried something might happen to him. Recruiting Hannath was a master stroke and the timing might not be too bad with Zac Clarke just about ready to resume. He’s going to have to step up and pull his finger out or he will be on the scrap heap by seasons end.
I agree Johnno that was by far the best win of the year.
If Clarke wants to be around this time next year I think he has to stand tall and perform until Sandi comes back and then continue to give us further options.
Hannath is going to get better with every run he has.
with Crozier and Sutcliffe playing so well at the moment and Mellington,Neale,Michie,Sheridan all knocking on the door and Faulks playing well all looks good other than the ruck situation.
The likes of DeBoer and Suban giving plenty also makes things look rosie.I was not sure of how Suban would go after being dropped then given a reprieve. But he has really lifted his game. With Josh Simpson already in the spot light for a berth and Morabito getting closer all well mostly all looks good.
bring on Sydney.I think we can play the SCG well with Lyons game plan.
