WCE coach

I hardly think West Coasts list is old Bazza. Bar Cox and Glass (currently the only 2 veterans getting a consistant game) WCE list is quite youthful. Embley needs to give it up, Kerrs body isnt holding up. A.Selwood has retired.
Granted there are a few passengers on the list though. Smith, Butler, McGinnity et al.

Obviously WCE are not a wet weather footy team, not much chance of gaining more experience there.
If it was dry scores would have been different.
Stand out for me was the big difference in work rate, the Cats creamed it.
Ken Judge has been saying for a while now he believes the way the AFL is going is taller mids, or bigger bodies. The likes of Gaff, Dalziell, Hutchings, Cripps are generally uncontested ball winners. Too many of them. Maybe throw Darling in the middle and bring in Dick into the forward line to see the measure.

I dont think Butler is a passenger, when he plays he is consitent, beats his opponent more times than he gets beaten. Agree on Smith, he should go. McGinnity I like, hard at it and should be our best small defender, if he gets put in that position. Agree on Kerr and Embley.

Hutchings is not a uncontested ball winner? He is an in and under player. You always need outside mids, and if we have Priddis and Scott Selwood in the middle, their is really no need for another in and under mid.

Darling could definately be turned into a great midfielder, but I prefer his presence up forward, would be too hard to replace him up their, his tackling and pressure is second to none!!

You’re right about Hutchings, he just couldn’t buy a vowel the other night. Dalziell had more of it.
Wellingham, Priddis and Selwood were probably our best against the Cats.
No mention of Darling and Kennedy plus forwards alike, ball rarely went down there.
Shuey’s first game back… glad he didn’t pull a hammy.

Sorry Soprano, but McGinnity is rubbish. He has average disposal and I just dont think he is in WCE best 22. Just because he is hard at it, I dont think it warrants him getting a game.

Definately Wellingham, Priddis and Selwood were our best. Darling and Kennedy were quiet, but expected given the amount of ball that came down there. M.Brown, McKenzie and Glass were also not to fault. But god we miss Waters and Hurn down their.

I agree he does have average disposal (but so does E.McKenzie), but I think that he would be in our best 22 if he was played as a small defender (as I said before). But he is not being played as that. He should be taking A.Smith’s opponents and he will be a lot better. Would be playing the same position as J.Brennan and I reckon McGinnity would be more valuable. McGinnity playing in the mids or fwd line, definately not in our best 22.

Cats win by 90+ points

Rumour has it, Woosha just quit.

Where’d ya hear that?

heard on am radio.
Maybe that’s why Paul Roos said something has come up that he needs to think about..
Wishful thinking

Adam Simpson it is.
I am happy enough. I do prefer to think that the Hawks game plan is a little more desirable than the Dockers.
I would’ve been supportive either but the more I read about Simpson the more I’m happy.

I agree,i think they needed someone from outside the club and whilst i feel for Sumich and Burns thats the nature of the business and by the sounds of it Simpsion interviewed very well, good luck to him.

While I’m glad to see some new blood in the camp rather than go for Suma, a 4 yr coaching apprenticeship may be risky. Still, it’s done so let’s see what transpires. There’s no way I would trash Woosha in any way, but we certainly needed a game plan this year and it didn’t really happen. Perhaps Simmo can rejuvenate the plan. He needs to get moving…the scavengers are moving in - Shuey is being courted by the clubs over east for next year already…and he is probably not the only one. Time for the WCE to become the club of old when it comes to drafting.

I thought it was 3 years.

Yeh, I think he got 3 years, but I was referring to his 4 year apprenticeship.
I like the way he is easing himself in - very respectful of everyone and not trying to change the world yet. Thing is, I would hope he’s not going to be a complete Mr Nice when the game starts. I reckon the WCE have rolled the dice in hopes here. Simmo brings in Rawlings, who isn’t really a household name, Jaymie Graham who you could be forgiven for thinking that he had moved overseas and an ex Hawks player that finds it hard to string 2 games together. Not the WCE of old! Still, if it all works, I’ll be happy to let people see the egg on my face.

Personally i like the appointment.
I dont think he is a ranter and raver(like Clarkson),as long as the players respect him and play for him everything else will take care of itself.
I think the senior assistant they get is very important…Laidley i think could be the one!

Ellis if he can stay fit will be a good pickup, very good midfielder when in full flight and can play half back.
At least the club put him on a 1 year contract with clauses…good move.
Also lets hope the midfielder they pick up in the draft is ready made and can hit the ground running in the 22.

I am a fan of Simmo.
Was also hoping we would pick up Michael Voss and tempt Joel Corey home into a coaching role.
