WAFL pushed out in WA Day celebrations

Did anyone see the liftout intodays paper Celebrate WA …How will you celebrate the spirit of WA?

in the sports section the “Historic” Eagles v Richmond game takes top bill.

Not a single mention of the traditional foundation day WAFL derby.

VALE WAFL

Bloody disgraceful but so typical. I bet the WAFC didnt even know the WAFL had a game scheulded (even though it been that way for the last 100 years)

That there’s half the problem… The old West Australian paper is owned by an eastern states company. Which shows little regard to the wafl. Sad fact of life.

And guess which wafl club is sponsored by said newspaper?

Yes my thoughts exactly Tiger. It’s an eastern states company controlling the (supposed West Australian) paper, a corporatized company controlling the mentioned sport and unfortunate to say but the real footy doesn’t get a mention. It makes one wonder where the world went wrong?

It is not The West’s fault. It is the West Coast Eagles who have stolen the day from the WAFL. They couldn’t care less about the WAFL and Adolf Nisbett is lower than a snake’s belly. I honestly think that they pushed ahead with this fixture to spite the WAFL clubs because of the resistance to them entering their own side in the WAFL. Well they won out in the end and got what they wanted as from next season. So much for that SF clown Raitt saying how they were going to stand up to them and not buckle . HA

Inclined to agree with you, its the WAFC the eagles that have shafted the WAFL..knobs like dorrington and as you say raitt that have done nothing to stand up for WAFL.

london to a brick it will be a dockers v eagles called the WA day derby in a year or two…

curtins for the last wafl day.

RE: Cesspit & Bazza. Yep that makes sense. However it would be the Wests fault to a certain extent.
I would imagine the editior/s, editor in chief or whatever he calls himself would meet with the journalists, stylists etc. I’d guess whatever stories attract advertising revenue has sway over their editorial decision-making. They would discuss how they choose what to cover, how to cover it, what prominence to give it in the paper, etc. The editors would likely have ultimate control over everything that gets covered and how resources are allocated. Which obviously does not include the Wafl!
