No problems Ric and Thankyou for your time and effort as well… I Hope the marriage lasts

My idea was to grab some stats off your page and add a few pics to support them.. Not a bad mix but as I said heading off for a trip. Not a concern as something to do during the Footy Season and anyone can add stuff.

A good record of WIN/LOSS records up to this date

I still get a bit of a kick out of this match report from 1904:
NORTH FREMANTLE V. SOUTH FREMANTLE

The meeting of North and South Fremantle attracted only a few spectators to the North Fremantle Oval. The match was reckoned as an easy thing for North, and so it proved, South never having a look in. It would be a waste of space to describe the game. South Fremantle’s form was beneath that of a second-rate junior team, and if they can’t do any better they might as well drop out of the competition. The final scores were :-

North Fremantle, 10.21 (81 points)
South Fremantle, 0.4 (4 points)
Lol Looks like a couple of the Peel Results this year and a few of the country clubs. Souths must of had a good back line as 10 goals in 4 qtrs isnt exactly a lot per qtr. Wonder if the stats are up on 1904 to see how Souths really went that year. Good one

Actually found them on the WAFL ONLINE site
http://www.wafl.com.au/games

Just put 1904 up as the year and I found it very interesting. STH FREO won 1 game from what I could see in round 6 v Subi. They came close in a few others.

If you haven’t already check out WAFL grand final preview by waflfootyfacts here

Tough day out for South, North would only survive another ten years or so, and became a Amatuer club after that.

Now what a team of legends here..1983 State of Origin. Click on image for larger view

https://ozfooty.net/media/kunena/attachments/859/WAVVIC1982.jpg

Played on July 12 Western Australia got up by 3 points in a close encounter 16.22.118 to 16.19.115. This was a disappointment to the Big V as they had earlier lost to South Australia.

Just a couple of interesting stats from the above site

Four WA players have played 12 times against Victoria. They are Graham Farmer, Ross Glendinning, Brian Peake and Norm Rogers. Three have played 11 times against Victoria – Garry Sidebottom, Graham Moss and Keith Slater.

Gary Buckenara has kicked the most goals for WA v Victoria with 22 goals in 8 games, followed by George Doig who kicked 21 goals in 6 games.

Victoria defeated WA in 15 straight matches from 1949 to 1960 before WA’s historic win in the 1961 Carnival.

WA has scored 889 goals and 975 behinds in 80 matches (17 wins and 63 losses) against Victoria and the VFL (including 19 State of Origin matches). They have conceded 1258 goals and 1189 behinds.
Under State of Origin rules, WA has won 7 and lost 12 of their 19 clashes against the Big V.

Some more great pics off WAFL OVER.. Bit of memorabilia as well

“The day of the laughing cavalier… The worst day in the life of Frederick David Book, our most favoured President and after whom the Perth Oval grandstand is named. We’d beaten Swans 4 times straight, won 18 games in a row and then lost the Grand Final, the year was 1961 and Swans had won their very first premiership.”

W.A.F.L. teams, Subiaco and East Perth toured India in October, 1969 promoting Australian Rules Football in the Sub-Continent. Two games were played in New Delhi, with each team winning a game. Subiaco narrowly won the first game while East Perth comfortably won the second game; 24.20 (164) to 12.10 (82).

That stuff is brilliant Cardy. Thanks. It just depresses me a bit to see what the football world has let what we had, become what it is. Especially on nights like this when I’m alone and on the red…
That photo of Nicky Winmar is a ripper. That must have been the year or maybe two after I played on the same team as him at Pingelly.

Glad you appreciate it mate.. I like you love our history.
I couldnt believe it when I came across the Tour to India. Never really knew about that. Now as for the Red I had a few last night.. Suffered for it a bit today but it was worth it.

Ha yeah. Doesn’t hurt to blow off a bit of steam every now and then.
I’ve had a bugger of a month. New job, and my poor old dad, subi member for 57 years, passed away after an unexpected illness from complication of surgery. Anyway, the missus has gone for a weekend away and I’m playing Lucinda Williams loud and having an ok time.
Hey Cardy. If I recall right from footygoss you are ex military? Me too, maybe a bit younger than you. I’m an ex RAN Junior Recruit from Jan 1980.

Started off in PMG as a JPO (Telegram boy) in 68 . Joined 68 Vietnam 70 then continued for 20 years. 16 Years with Police Comms as in Signals in Army.
Retired now. Getting Van ready for another trip East and heading off Sunday. Hitting a ARMY reunion in the Barossa Valley (there goes the liver) then off to Canberra to see my Son etc etc. Got the grog packed and the Fishing Rods. Wife looking after the Food side of it LOL. Will be away for 4 months back in Late Jan.
Always been a WP supporter as I was dragged along in the late 50’s and 60’s but didnt have to be dragged along after that..
Missed a lot of WAFL because posted over east all of the time. Got the results from Tuesdays Australian newspaper as it was all we had - NO Internet then.. How things have changed.
Catching up on my Missed years now though. A lot is missing though and hard to find some history but getting there.
Thats why I start topics like this because some of it is new to me and like to share it around.

Anyway Singha have a good Christmas and New Year.. See you in 2014.
p.s Loved watching the Fleet and the ships going up the Harbour. in Sydney on TV.. Incredible display I bet it bought some memories back.. I have a mate who just got out of the Navy to work on the mines and he said after watching that he has had second thoughts and might go back…
