Martin is gone
and an ex-Perth FC board member Ian Callaghan is the new chief
Heaven help us.
Not a fan DF? Please explain.

Why? Hopefully having a Perth person as the new chair can only be a good thing I would have thought. Former CEO of Curtin University and current deputy chair of Landgate. Bean counter by trade. Don’t know him myself but his face is very familiar around the club on match days.
Might we finally see REAL and lasting equalization measures?

If he is a Bean counter, than all he is going to do is pander to what Freo and WCE want, as they bring in the majority of the money. Not sure zone equality is going to fund the WAFC VIP outings at Optus.
As Mark Stone said in that radio interview the other day, Perth need to work their zones better, develop their current colts and seniors better, raise Perth’s profile, as a go to club for quality folk, on and off the park.

Mark Stone has been in the chair 5 minutes he wouldn’t be fully aware of the zone issues unless he’s been schooled on it. He thought 197cm Kane Johnston was a Perth local. Nup, came to us from Peel think he might have been part of the deal when Brady Grey was told he had to play for his employer.
Anyway hopefully you listened to Adrian Barich’s interview last week. He’s got eyes on a couple of your zones. Maybe the new WAFC chair can implement an equalization measure the VFL implemented back in the 70’s . They decided the lowest clubs on the ladder should get allocated the most successful country zones.
Sam Kekovich was supposed to join his older brother at always powerful Carlton but North Melbourne finished last and got allocated Carlton’s traditional country zone so Kekovich ended up at North which he said he was very grateful for because it was a good time to be a NM player.
Perhaps if we end up with the EF or Claremont country zones we might be able to climb that list of AFL players from WAFL clubs from equal 3rd last.
Considering Perth have money and EF have a good junior zone, I think that’s equalization right there DD…but hey more than happy for PFC to buy the Mullewa zone off EF…EF get some much needed slice of income and Perth get that much needed slice of EF apparent golden goose country zone that you Perth boys bleat on about.
Why did Martin go suddenly?
Chairs are not there to push the barrow of their old Club, the WAFC run the entire Footy scene in the State,
Not much will change.

Typical smug arrogant answer’ from an entitled club.

I think there’s a limit on how long the chair can, well, be in the chair. Same goes for commissioners I think.
Martin only did two terms
pulled the pin
And your response DD, is a typical salt and vinegar one, from a woe as me fan. Be grateful your club of choice, has financial security and I will be grateful my club of choice has a decent junior zone…sounds like a win win for both.

Good to see you finally acknowledge you have a decent zone freeze and it’s not all down to shear hard work.

I do agree that Perth need some assistance with their zones, however our (EF’s) junior & country zones did come about from sheer hard work. Perth should concentrate on it as your new coach has alluded to.
FYI. When country zones were originally looked at…no-one wanted Geraldton.
