WA vs Victoria

Overall it was a decent game although the Vics did seem to have another gear to go to when WA challenged. Surprised that Daicos didnt’t win the EJ Whitten medal as he was clearly the most influential player on the ground. The game itself is worth persisting with as a preseason game although it will never reach the intensity of the pre AFL clashes. The players all fully bought into the concept and thankfully both coaches took attacking mindsets into the game so it was a good spectacle

Tickets started from $60.

Thanks,TT.

If the Clubs start arking up about the Injuries, whip it over to October.

Problem solved.

Players have a 4 - 5 MONTH Window to get over their Injury,as opposed to 2 weeks.

I paid $35 for top level behind the goals, cheap as chips

What was the minimum Adult Price for the WAFL Grand Final in comparison,I wonder?

To me it was like a youthful version of the EJ whitten legends game…

Plenty of “manufactured” theatre.

Imo it was a good game of footy.
Wa looked fantastic when they moved the footy quickly, down the ground.
Losing Mitch Georgiades at HT was a blow.As the mid sized fwd can play tall or good at ,ground level.
Lets hope all injured players recover quickly.Including the Blues defender.
Sounded like the Vic players had a ball in Wa.And loved wearing the Big V jumper.
Humphrey’s impressed in the 2025 GF.And was amazing in the second half.
Wa just coughed up the footy to much to win.

I thought it was good to see high scoring footy, bit like the old SOO matches. only a couple of moments that players didn’t go at the contest when they normally would have. Good standard given it’s the first game these players have played since last year.

Most importantly the players want to play State footy, just need the media and clubs to stop talking about risk of injury.

Great crowd so people voted with their feet. Not sure its the right time of year to have it but its better than no SOO footy.

Who do we play next year is it SA or does the AFL hijack it and play Vic v SA?

TT everyone wants to play Victoria.
SA,Tas ,Wa and the Allies.
Wa was thinking about having a crack at the Gather Round.
But we hopefully get the SOO at Optus each year
Or SOO carnival every 3 years.Players like Dangerfield could play in 5 series. Then everyone can play the Vics.
Great to see Mossy out their at the end of the game.Remember he left Essendon as a reigning Brownlow Medalist to CC Claremont.

Footy moved quickly cos there was no defence!

Was great to watch

Wonder if they consider changing the format and play a State of Origin carnival between WA, Vic, SA, Tassie and Allies. Extend the squads and play matches against each state consisting of 2 x 20 min halves.

All for that.

To get the Clubs to go with it,It MUST be early October then!

I think thats the only way we can all play the Vics.
4 games in 14,days +semi and final .Making it 21 days.With 35 to 40 man squads .
Every two years will piss the clubs off.
Every four years is to long.
Make it every 3rd season.
Heard yesterday that in 2000.The season finished early.Because of the Sydney Olympics. So the SOO couldn’t be fitted in .And just died from there.

The presence of the Olympics had NO bearing on the Fate of State of Origin,Gtr.

The AFL Clubs took a Vote before 2000 and despite the Majority Voting Yes,4 Clubs Stood in the way!

All West of Nhill!

I doubt it. Players are keen to get away for their offseason break, they are a bit banged up and Optus stadium needs to drop the pitches in. As it is you could see the Optus surface looked like a patchwork quilt after the recent Ed Sheeran concert.

Well, that’s the strangest thing about those Concerts.

The CEO reckoned he needed Perth Stadium cleared of Everything for 6 Weeks from October 1st,to prepare the Stadium Surface.

He said that in ‘22 and consequently,we had to play our Grand Final at Leederville.

That excuse wore thin, because ever since in the 6 week timeframes,he’s had all manner of things such as Concerts,Giantsized Dinners,Rugby Internationals such as last year, proceeding the Tests!

It was pretty much a Baldfaced Lie he told us at preparing the ground, leg alone the wicket area.

If the AFL do go knocking on his door, will gf tell them NO?!

Doubt It!

As fir gtr players bring on Holidays, well this is one game they could probably enjoy themselves afterwards, which they they can’t really have done yesterday

@Tiger_Tales , you hit the nail on the head when you said, the players wanted to play.
That was vital and I thought every player showed that.
@gtrxuone ,Humphries really does look a beauty. Works both sides of his body, reads the ball beautifully, Moves like silk. A gem.
