Chapman and Clark are awfully tall for 16 yr olds LH…192/194cm with a growth spurt to come still perhaps?..Heard Clark is talented, what’s Chapman like?

Gee’s I cant remember the last time we had a State 18’s side (Teal Cup previously) with only 2 players with League experience they being Charlie Cameron SD & Dom Sheed Subi!
Good luck to the boys but we will certainly miss Charlie while away thats for sure! :frowning:

Yeah Chapman is a classic late developer. Probably wasn’t in the top 20 in the Subi dev squad before the carnival but made up heaps of ground. He’s going to turn out to be real good once he fills out some more. Aggressive for a big kid and gets himself involved in the play.

We will really miss Jesse Hogan and Jack Martin of course. Both would have been stars at this level but were allowed to be taken in the draft as underage players in that GWS/GCS/Melbourne arrangement.

There’s some good talent in that squad. Surprised only one from Perth though.

Jarrod Pickett (SF), watch out for this kid. He’ll be in the AFL next year. Saw him run the entire length of Lathlain at speed a few weeks ago a la Phil Manassa and finish with a goal from 50 out.

kid from Swans - Anderson who is 16 turning 17 this year played league pre-season yet couldnt make the state 18’s.
played reserves last week and got 23 possies and was voted best player..
Charlie Camerson is 19 this year so not sure how he gets in the squad ?

The Cameron situation is interesting.

There is a rule which enables the states to include players (Late DOB previous year) deemed to be “developing” under special circumstances. Usually ruckmen or players from non-traditional football backgrounds -ala David Madut last year. Another big fella from East Fremantle was also included from the late DOB 1993 group.

Cameron isn’t a player like that but nevertheless has been given permission to be included.

Perhaps he hasn’t played much football in his life? Concentrated on other sports until now? Not sure - just a possibility.

only played 20 games of aussie rules before this year, 3 colts games late last year coming down from the Pilbara..was a rugby player..
you would think the recruiters must of asked for him to be included as it would be better for his development to be playing league than to be playing against a bunch of kids..

Okay that’s it then. Definitely fits into the developing category with only 20 games under his belt.

Yeah, every scout in Australia will be at the NAB 18’s.

I’m not sure but I reckon Harding might have nominated him for selection but not 100% sure on that.

I was surprised Michael Wood from Subi was over looked.

I guess Wood fits into the same bracket as Cameron as a late DOB 1994 but not deemed a developing player.

It’s a tricky business these days with colts being July + of the previous year.
