WA premier
With Dear Leader gone, it should give the Libs/Nats an opportunity to make in-roads into Labor’s big lead if they choose the right candidates and keep the Clan under control as Labor is really devoid of any talent at the front end.
Yes BC now that the Covid thing is ancient history, and with Sneakers gone ( I was certain he would bail prior to the next election ) you can expect the ship to right it self a bit more next time around, most of the old liberal seats will land back blue but there will be enough marginals for labor to hang on for another term.

Baz of its not safe for his family to live in Wa.He might move back east.
Some people still believe Covid was made up.And the vaccinations are going to kill us.
Agree they get to much when they retire.

Some big decisions looming for the Libs leading up to the next election. They need to make a promise to the electorate that they have no plans to sell off Western Power, that was a bad move by CB that cost him big time. The east coast is a basket case at the mercy of privately owned utility providers.

And the other biggie is Roe 8. Do they put that back on their agenda? The only people that upset is a few local Nimby’s and pot smoking dole bludgers looking fill a void in their worthless lives. The mistake CB made was not starting that project at the beginning of his second term instead of 6 months before the next election thinking once it’s started it will have to go ahead. Ended up a massive waste of tax payers money.

McClown was a one trick pony. Once the adrenaline rush of power he had during Covid wore off he had nothing left. Failed the hospital system and treated doctors and nurses poorly.

Yep, I agree you only have to look at some of the WACKO comments on Twitter to see they are making outright threats.Total nutters.

I would say he might go overseas for a while maybe a trasnfer with a resource company or diplomatic via a gift from Albo.

Our Power supply is more to do with our cheap domestic gas reserve that generates it rather than who owns the poles and wires. Plus we are stand alone gas fired and not on some farked up national renewables grid.

Roe 8 is a dead as a do do, the land has been taken off MRD - gone for good thankfully.

But yeah McClown was a one trick pony as per my early post , take that away and he was pretty crap. Just think if he had one a term earlier the Subiaco oval would still be in use.

Looking likely amber is favoured to take over. Reading between the lines being cookey not having the numbers and old Rita not really in the picture. It will probably suit amber as she does enjoy climbing the ladder. Apparently McGowan finishes up this Friday.

I reckon they are on the slide nig time, Amber is the Union pick coming from the left, they really wanted Cook but he is toxic.
Covid made Sneakers, take that away and you really struggle to find some big achievements in office.

While I fully supported his actions during Covid particularly the border closures I think it masks over what was a very ordinary tenure as premier. Even then I thought his anti landlord measure during covid were terrible and now some of them are going to be made permanent.

Effectively he capitalized on the age old WA v Canberra and East animosity and mindset, which is basically the forte of the Libs, over the course of history Brand, Court etc…

Take the gloss away from Covid management and you really have black marks and fails all over the place.
Went around opening all of Barnetts projects while in office, meanwhile there is little to show for his time in office, Metro Mess is underwhelming, Armadale shut down delayed 1 year, removal of level crossings expected to take another two years with no trains. Womens Hospital still a mystery bag - No real legacy left there.

Then there is the Health and Hospital disaster, Cook was eventually forced out and apparently the left wing power brokers were at his neck after getting rid of Cook ever since.

Law and Order - terrible Banksia Hill is in chaos; Police numbers are terrible and morale and recruitment is failing badly,

Housing, shortages all over the place and his anti landlord measures aggravated it, froze rents and now will be changing the Tenancy Act to remove Landlord control of changes to properties and reduce rent reviews.

Pushed State, Taxes, Fees and Charges through the roof, and the same time spent very little, industrial action still on going for those that have not had decent pay rises in years. Pretty much adopted scrooge policy while blowing $90 million of useless RAT tests.

Mint Scandal - Clearly he had checked out mentally by then.

Nepotism, Gave the State Governors job to his best mate and mentor gravy train Beasley - fist time in WA history an party Pollie has been given the job, then doubles down and gives it to his Covid Cop mate Dawson.

Pushed through Upper house reforms to favour Labor despite saying they had no plans to do so.

On a footy note, the bloke didnt have a clue about WAFL, dont think I ever saw him once at a game, even mention it or support it in any way, unlike Barnett who was a genuine WAFL bloke.

Not much to choose from after McGowan for Labor leader, they are on the wane now, no way can Libs win the next one, the numbers are too big, but they will put a serious dent in the majority and have a crack next time around.

That’s a brilliant summary Baz…absolutely nailed just how poor his time as Premier has been if you look past the Covid response. The sad thing for this state is that his front bench is completely devoid of talent…not that he was any world beater but he adopted the Joe Biden strategy of having a deputy who is even more hopeless than he is to make him look good.

If A-J S succeeds him then heaven help us as all she did as Health Minister was to make herself a small target without actually fixing anything. I’d give Labor one more term in office then the Libs/Nats are a real chance to flip things if they stay on point and focused whilst in oppo.

And the winner is………??? Captain Cooked! That bloke reminds me of the captain of the Titanic when he was Minister for Health. Nothing to worry about here our hospital system is world class while parents were grieving the tragic death of their little girl who died waiting to be attended to in the waiting room for several hours of Perth Childrens Hospital. One can only wonder how they are feeling about this news.

Heard old amber suddenly pulled out of the race for some reason.
That only leaves cook and rita remaining. Can’t see rita getting the nod ahead of cook.
Then at some point a cabinet reshuffle will need to happen.

Yes DD…who can forget his classic line about exciting times being in WA health at the start of Covid19. There’s enough material for the Libs to bury the prick at the next state election even if Labor wins which they should.

all these remarks about WA Liberals actually doing something or even having somebody at the wheel - both of which have no real substance to rely on
Like it or not old Barnett didn’t have any succession plan , he was boss and that was it - and now it’s plain to see there is no way Liberal could govern in the near future and probably longer
It’ll be years before any experience is gained
and as far as pricks go , well Barnett is one of those for leaving us with his criminal son and a blowout of nearly double cost at Burswood and a fricken boil known as Elizabeth Quay

Apparently ex-premier McGowan is now working 4 jobs.
He’s joined old joe hockeys lobbying firm in providing investment and strategy advice. And it’s been said is also a part time advisor for Mineral Resources. And also starting a consultancy role with BHP very soon it has been confirmed. Add to that is supposedly going to take on another advisory role with APM.
Wonder if he will repay his 250 to 300 thousand/ year retirement pension back?
I thought they were paid that amount because of “lost opportunities”?
I would have thought consultancy work is very well paid, is it not?
Certainly a few questions need answering!

He’ll soon be able to chuff on a cigar with “Smokin Joe” Hockey and shoot the breeze.

What an absolute proedicatble joke.

Tax Payer rolled gold Mcgowan $300K a year was tired and worn out, so we are always told by these grifters, so tired he has gone to work for Lib. Joe Hockey and big corp. BHP to sell gov secrets and do deals to line his own pocket…

Any moves like this should mean you forfeit the tax payer pollie pension, what a rort.

yeah it is disgusting and the pensions should be wound back if they go private
and fat joseph was the king of stealing public money on the national stage so it’s no real wonder he’s just a money pig
just remember all the money it stole using the “wife’s properties” as cover
and the toad was never going to stick around after it lost it’s own election was it?

Yes this crap needs to stop and there needs to be an independent review of how much retired politicians can earn without losing their pension. Why shouldn’t it be means tested like any other pension?

The other funny thing is the moment he had used them up for votes, he packed up and left rockingham, and moved to a mansion in Mt Lawley, got away from the rocko bogans he kept telling us he loved so much…nothing but another pocket lining fraud.

don’t waste your time expecting all 4 sides of WA politics to abandon their perks
all of the parties ( Lib , Lab , Nats & independents) agreed to the Pension system and voted it in for themselves
we have no hope of reform in this
fact

I think Mcgoo is the last of the current members to have the old rediculously generous Super system, all current ones are under the less generous ( but still way over the top) system brought in by Carpenter.
