WA Cricket - 2021/22

A great win in the Marsh Cup today beating CA’s pets NSW.
That follows on from the Perth Scorchers winning the Big Bash.
Can we dare to dream we make it a hat trick of titles this Summer and finally take home the Sheffield Shield as well???

We may be without Richardson (hamstring) & S.Marsh (knee) though for the rest of the cricket season, along with those on International duties in Pakistan- M.Marsh, Green, Inglis, Agar, Stoinis etc.

What a comeback from 6 for 89 in the first innings. Even at 9-173 it was never going to be enough but that 50 run last wicket stand gave them something to bowl at. They were unfortunate to lose Richardson but Tye and the others rose to the occasion. Even then it looked like Sams and Henriques were going to cruise home but an outstanding catch by Cartwright got rid of Henriques and the other wickets were mopped up.
As BH said the Warriors are still in the hunt for the Shield and they play NSW and Vic in their last two games. They are the other teams competing for the shield and the Vic game will be at the WACA. Hopefully Shaun Marsh can get back on the park before the seasons end. It would be nice if he could finish his red ball career in a Sheffield Shield final. I have a feeling he may only be available for short form cricket in future.

Bit harsh there BH with you calling out NSW as being the CA, surely if NSW are CA pets, then the CA would of flown some of those NSW boys back from Pakistan to win NSW some silverware…great game, pity about Richo…and Marsh…especially for WA shield fortunes

Interesting finish to the shield this week. There are 3 games including WA v Vic at the WACA. My understanding is that if WA win this game well, they could still sneak a home final. A loss or draw opens up the opportunity for NSW to make the final at our expense. Whatever happens the Vics are definitely qualified.
One interesing sidelight to the game at the WACA is that Will Pucovski is in the Victorian squad, not sure if he will play but he has a great record in Perth including a double century.

WA are now within touching distance of hosting a Sheffield Shield Final at the WACA next weekend. They have totally outplayed the team that will be their opposition.
Great to see Hilton Cartwright make a ton at a crucial time and how about the 17 year old Teague Wyllie making 42 on debut. WA bowlers Paris, Hardie , Kelly and Morris have been all over the Vics and hopefully they finish the job off quickly in the morning.

Well done to WA wrapping it up inside 3 days and now likely to host the final next Thursday at the WACA. There’s mention that Marcus Harris and Scott Boland might come in for Vic after Test duties in Pakistan. I wonder if it’s the same for Agar, Inglis, Marsh and Cam Green or do they have to play a certain number of Shield games to qualify? Unfortunately Jhye Richardson will miss out with a hammy.

I think they are all in the ODI squad to play Pakistan over there after the Test Series has finished, whereas Harris & Boland are not.
Bloody bad luck for WA but we should be used to it!

Ok. That makes sense. Cheers BH.
