Vale Russell Woolf

Unabashed East Perth supporter and ABC presenter has passed away suddenly.

This is a very sad day for EP as Russell was so passionate abt his support for the club

Fantastic person and absolutely loved EP. Very sad news indeed.

A real loyal Royal. RIP Russell

i’m shocked.,not only a true royal but supporter of wafl footy.too young to die.will miss seeing his face around the club.

Sad news, he was a great West Aussie broadcaster on the ABC.

Sorry missed this when I added similar in general news, but agree with all sentiments, sad loss.

Very sad news. I met him briefly once and was a delighted enthusiastic man. Taken way too soon. Another tragic loss of ABC talent. Andrew Ollie, Wally Foreman, Eoin Cameron, John Clark.

Listening to him in the early mornings radio, was refreshing to hear Russell quite often speak of the Wafl. Yes, he has been taken way too soon.

a real shame he is lost to us at just 57 and that is way too young my thoughts go to his family of course
RIP mate radio lost a gemstone

Listening to him on the radio, Russell sounded like the type of guy that you would like to have a conversation with, no matter what the topic. According to people who knew him he was exactly the same person on and off the air and didn’t have any of the airs and graces that people in the media often exhibit.
A very sad day. Condolences to his family and friends, particularly the East Perth people who knew him.

I loved this bloke. He was the speaker at Polly Farmers funeral if I recall correctly.
I remember a few years back he had Larry Kickett on the radio for an interview, I think it was before the 78 forty year premiership reunion perhaps, and the enthusiasm in Russel was just frothing up.
A sad loss.

Russell was a decent bloke. Will be sadly missed by family, friends and his radio audience+ Royal fans at the footy next year.
