News that Edna & Les have left us - a seriously talented man
Australia’s greatest comic Genius and export, Sir Les was my personal favourite.
Back when comedy was the real thing.
Won’t see his likes again.
Very sad to hear the news. The comedy world is poorer tonight.
What a fantastic entertainer. True Aussie comedy.
Very sad news about Barry Humphries’ passing.
Before his health rapidly went downhill, by virtue of his age, I was just thinking that we’ll likely never see Barry perform live again.
The boisterous, irrepressible Sir Les Patterson was also my favourite Humphries character, while I also really enjoyed Dame Edna Everage’s cutting humour.
I also remember there was the ghostly Sandy Stone and trade union official Lance Boyle.
The Adventures of Barry McKenzie was comic genius
Arguably the greatest dealer with hecklers of any comedian..
The Adventures Of Barry McKenzie.A movie, I still view a few times a year.
May Barry /Sir Lez/Dame Edna RIP.
A national treasure has been lost, Humphries was a comedic genius, his several alter ego’s satirised the Australian character and took our humour to the world. Left our shores for old Blighty in '59 and conquered that market, but the real achievement was to take the USA, which to me was very unexpected given the Septic’s sense of humour is not all that sophisticated.
Humphries would have lamented the the current woke world and it’s rediculous march to obliterate free speech and satirical comedy, one commentator said that if The Adventures of Barry Mckenzie was released today it would need to be cut to around 15 mins to comply with this evil anti free speech cult.
RIP Mr Humphries.
The Adventures of Barry McKenzie was a classic along with the sequels Bazza Pulls It Off and Bazza Holds His Own. But to me, the funniest thing I’ve read in years was Sir Les Patterson’s book A Traveller’s Tool. He talks about his marriage to Lady Patterson and her going to a GP after the wedding night to find out what Sir Les’ genitalia was all about, his cutting a swathe through the typing pool as the Cultural Attache to the Court of St James where he entertains one of the typists who didn’t know what to do so he told her to hold onto it while he walked backwards and forwards and so it goes on…very funny stuff.
If you haven’t read it then I suggest you give it a go if you like that sort of thing as it was pure genius. Also the interview with Michael Parkinson and Jackie Weaver was hilarious when Sir Les cracked a woody…funniest TV I’ve seen in a long time. RIP Bazza.

Haha, me too
Love the follow up as well, Barry McKenzie Holds His Own.Just as hilarious.
Dazzler might watch Bazza hold his own ,tonight.
A brilliant entertainer. My favourites are when interviewed on Parky’s show in Australia as Sir Les Patterson and when Sharon Osborne and Judy Dench were also guests. Just priceless.
Has already been a victim of cancel culture having an award stripped in his honour for calling parents who help their kids transgender aspirations evil. The shiela said it’s a pity later in life he lost the ability to read the room. More like you alternate selfish minority who fail to read the room.
DD some people just dont get it.
I can see a whole raft of self obsessed keyboard warrior woke offensinators popping up on anti-social media making their holier than thou commentaries on the great mans career, about jokes he made 40+ years ago. These people need to get a life, preferably on another planet.
unfortunately some of the finest and most hilarious comedy in history will never ever see the light of day again - and the world is far poorer for it
Pretty much the entirety of costumes would now see them in some court , first few lines would see WW3 in some places
