Hopefully the game draws a decent crowd, as it looks like the game will dodge the rain…that’s if one can have faith in the BOM these days.
EF lose Teakle and JMarsh, whilst SF lose Schloithe…the Strom boys will enjoy EF lack of height and it will be a big ask for EF to curb them. Winder v Murdock should be a good contest, both in stellar form. Heard a whisper that EF remaining rucks are all injured…hopefully one is available, though RMcGuire and Cripps didnt play last weekend, though Blakiston did in the reserves.
SF for me, purely because EF were dire v Perth last weekend, if the likes of Stubbs and Quartermaine can get off the leash and kick 8 between them, one of the Strom boys will kick 10 for sure. Perth’s depleted midfield were able to deliver more I50’s than EF mids, think SF mids will do better, though Schloithe out helps.
Happy to eat humble pie, as an EF win will be handy considering the back up behind them for a top 5 spot.
Terrible timing with Teakle going out if the news about the other rucks is true, Freeze. I agree- the top 3 looks set to me and EF look a shadow of their former self this year. 4 games the result has been under a goal with big wins against Claremont and Subi, who are outside the 5. Marsh is a loss and just can’t see EF kicking a score
Hard to get too excited with our more recent form against our less successful neighbours, but if we can win, it will be league derby victory number 200.
SF have 12 on their injured list compared to your 4 though Teakle is now gone and space cadet has work commitments for a week. Don’t be too downcast boys, I’m sure your team simply struggled for motivation against a lowly opponent last week and will snap out of their slumber for the derby.
Blakiston dominated the hit outs 45 to 22 against our 203cm reserves ruckman who usually wins the hit outs and got a handy 15 possessions. Looks more than capable of filling the void. What’s happened with Strnadica? Recall someone saying he had work commitments so would have a delayed start. Perfect replacement for Teakle.
[quote=“Freezin post=235690 userid=945”]According to Bill, Marsh is playing? Change of work situation apparently…I guess we can only wait n see.

Does this mean umpires pet Haiden Schloithe plays?
No idea about Schloithe mate, article only mentioned Bill in his iterview, said he expected JMarsh to be available for selection for Monday’s game…hope he is on the money…
DD perhaps you can say a little prayer for us EF fans, in regards to finding a suitable ruck replacement for Teakle before June 30th…
Obviously Teakle is off to the big smoke so comes out, you would think 204cm Blakiston gets another chance at league level. Schoenfeld is the other out. Will be interesting to see who replaces him. Surely Bennett and Ben McGuire hold their spots so one of Gorringe, Lawler, McDonald, Rankin or Zadow to come in for Biccies.
Now 3 changes to the side that narrowly defeated the competitions perennial cellar dwellers last Saturday. Lachlan Blakiston comes in for Brynn Teakle. Ben McGuire has underwhelmed in his last two outings and finds himself back in the ressies. A bit harsh and a big call because he does have that X factor. But difficult to deny Mitchell Zadow who earns a recall after kicking nine goals in his last two outings. Jackson McDonald is the other player to come in and Josh Schoenfeld goes out (injury?).
Great for the comp to see 7000+ turn up for the Freo Derby today…not sure if 22 late comers wearing EF jumpers were included in that 7000+, but not many lessons were learnt after that Perth game last weekend.
Congrats to SF on the win, kicked away to a winning lead early on and kept EF at bay as needed. Once again another opposition forward dines out on EF defence, has happened a few too many times this year for my liking…not sure if EF defence is asleep at the wheel or EF coaching team are asleep.
South were very good and I think the 14 point margin flattered us. It has been suggested the first quarter cost us but our 2nd,3rd and 4th terms didn’t appear much better. Surely we improve from here?
Giving any team a 6 goal head start is always going to be tough to come back from.
We had the ball enough, however we just let us ourselves down with our decision making. On the other hand SF were clean and used the ball well. Their backline fed off our poor entries and continually rebounded from this with ease which resulted in multiple goals.
I’m not sure why Murdoch didn’t start in the middle for centre bounces in the first half. He’s one of the best players in the comp and we were playing him as small forward???
Cleaver had a shocker!!! Marsh just couldn’t hold onto his marks.
On a positive I thought Blakiston in the ruck was very good.
Agree Rock, good to see Blakiston stand up in the ruck with Teakle gone, McGuire and Cripps injured…not sure how long those latter 2 will be out for, as the injury hub is so unreliable at times…a Teakle replacement will be handy for sure…especially one as good as Teakle too…fingers crossed.
Saw a fair slice of that game DD and gotta agree about Blakiston.Raw but seems to have the talent and moves well for a big man.Able to take a grab and good long term prospect for EF.
