V South's

I don’t know how we were blessed with playing the reigning premiers on their home deck for our first game, but it will be a good game to see how we are traveling.
We go into the 2021 season again with no key recruits and not one X AFL player on our list, we have a very young list and putting game time into these players will be a long term benefit, from what i have seen the leg speed is our greatest strength, but experience our greatest weakness.
Souths on the other hand is full of experienced hardened players, they blew us out of the park in that finals game last year that ended our season.
Good luck to the boys and lets hope its not too hot on Saturday…

Falcon, your speed was the main comment from the Subi boys that watched last weeks scratchie plus Keitels dominance, if you can get some decent supply to him you’ll give yourself a chance, but they are massive flag favourites and on their own paddock so a very hard task.

Nice to hear from you Falcon. Good luck for the year mate except when playing Subi of course.

Yeh cheers boys, been a busy off season for me but looking forward to the start of the 21 comp, yes young players leg speed and they look fit also, Keitel has matured into a good forward but he will have his work cut out, no Lourey and Meadows is a big loss also, but it is what it is.

It’s pretty amazing how successful WP have been (relatively) over the past 5-6 years with no Ex-AFL listed players. They continue to perform against the odds. Should be a good game- Keitel will need another blinder

For sure, i often wonder if some of these AFL players are over rated, most of them are winding down from a good career and don’t have the hunger a young bloke has trying to elevate themselves to a higher level, might be a good topic of discussion .

I believe it is down to a combination of one of the fastest growing growth areas in Australia and being along the coast where these kids have easy access to the beach and a healthy lifestyle. Subiaco and Claremont similarly combined with wealthy suburbs. In contrast Perth have clearly some of the poorest zones in low socioeconomic areas furtherest away from the beach and a healthy lifestyle.

West Perth’s decision whenever it was late 80’s early 90’s to relocate to the fast growing northern corridor while criticised by some and not without its teething problems due to the stupid set up at Joondalup Arena with Venues West, has proven to be a master stroke decision. That is why they don’t have to rely as much on recruiting as other clubs like mine from other WAFL clubs and interstate recruits, they already have the talent pouring through their grades.

DD, yes your right somewhat. The growth in the northern suburbs is immense, BUT they all love soccer. This is the problem. Also West Perth hasn’t produced a lot of AFL players compared to other clubs and too many ex West Players don’t come back to West Perth. I am proud that your club Perth and my club West Perth can field a majority of local lads where at times Subiaco field up to seventeen imported players. Our clubs have to survive to whatever means. In South Australia the AFL pay a licence fee of one million dollars direct to the none aliened clubs each season. In Western Australia the AFL pay six hundred thousand dollars to the none aliened clubs per season, BUT the total is payed to the commission, they take their bit and distribute the loot to the none aliened cubs. IS THAT FAIR? HEY. HAPPY EASTER ALL.

And same to you Winger.

Predictable result but at least we went down with a fight, congratulations to south,s, I loved the unveiling of the premiership flag with a helicopter, very classy…

Happy Easter to all …

Lots of fight mate Black , Manzone & Nelson still very good - another one was number 17 got the pill a bit
Knott & Keitel always threatened

Sorry to interrupt on your thread boys but a family friend of mine just wanted to know if Tom James is still around the place?
