V Peel August 1

Noticed a subtle time change for the League and consequently other Games.

League has gone from a 2.10PM start to 1.10PM.

I suppose you guys already know about it and it’s a change for Swans’ or Mutual Benefit, not Peel or more pointedly Fremantle’s!

Dockers are playing Friday night so dont really know why the change. Colts has been scheduled for 4pm and ressies 10.15

If Ressies runs On Time and finishes just before 12.35PM,will there be a Junior Parade straight afterwards,to enable the kids at the end of it,to line up and greet the Swans League Team on to the ground?

We should have made their Colts travel up to Bassendean at 6pm on a Friday night for the game like they continue to do to our Colts down there!

Don’t blame you for thinking that way.

But given it’s Administrator Driven, maybe they’d like to pitch in and get their hands Dirty for a day at the Coalface, they can help load and unload the property van at Home and Away,Twice over.

My guess is that the mens league squad are holding a fundraiser quiz night start around 7pm so that could be the reason for the change.

That it’s something Swans want to do,fair enough.

And if Peel and Freo are good with that, credit to them for that.

Maybe they can squeeze in a Table or 2,if there’s room for those who want to stay and support the night?

Its the telecast game next week so that will have something to do with the time change.

As for the actual game, looks like the guys will be pushing a rather large wheel barrow up the hill, but Subiaco showed yesterday that they can be restricted so hopefully the team and supporters can make it an uncomfortable couple of hours for the Mandurah Dockers and an upset would be a bonus! Great challenge for young Impey who is likely to come up against either Darcy or Cox, so a learning experience for a ruckman with great potential.

Subi showed the benefit of a tight tag on Sharp too Mike. He was much less influential with someone on his ginger ALL GAME!

True mate. He is a classy player but the tag made him lose his shit a bit for sure.

Cmon Beas - you are assuming our coaching staff have an idea or a thought out plan A, B & C - Sharp will get 42 possies this week and run all over the big expansions of Basso Oval unchecked. Those AFL boys make us run too far and fast remember..We have already given up and it may get nasty onfield and the scoreboard.

May get nasty in the Reserves as well,given it’s 1st v 2nd.

The change is twofold and neither is to help Swans. Peel didnt want the kids at the ground by 8am which would mean a 7am departure and Fremantle wanted the AFL listed players to be able to do recovery at a more suitable time ie ice baths, physio, massage etc rather than wait for Sunday.

Whether it was Swans accommodating, which i find hard to believe, a directive from WA footy and C7 or a combination of the 3 it now means that some juniors, parents and volunteers wont be able to make the parade because mods footy has games that start at 11 and 12:30.

When was that time switched,Danger?

Fremantle had umpteen bl**dy months, once they knew that Fixture was set to say something and only raise their issue recently?

They should not be allowed to do that in 2 weeks time, but I have a feeling, that’s what might happen.

But hang on,what Time did Peel play their League Game last week?

2.10PM?

So why are Swans being Jer*ed around?!

How on earth are Peelmantle able to get away with forcing our Colts to play Friday night matches at 6pm down in Mandurah when we play them there???

The parents/kids, volunteers, coaches etc would have to leave school, work, home at 2pm to get there in time for the pre match strap, warm up etc if they are coming from Mt Helena, Mundaring, Upper Swan etc just to avoid the peak hour rush on the Kwinana Fwy!!!

Once again rules for some and not others in the WAFL!

Fair point, though Swans weren’t alone in that department,Bease.

I keep trying to convince a cohort to bunk up in Mandurah, instead of doubling back and forth, but he won’t.

Even suggested swapping games,but no…

PS - Has to be a misprint on the WAFL Website Colts Fixtures and Results Page, but you’ll get a laugh out of this.

Round 20 Colts Game
South Fremantle v Peel 8.55PM

Doesn’t leave ground staff much time to ready the place for the WAFLW/Rogers Cup Grand Final Day,starting about 9.30AM.

As I said,has to be a misprint.

:upside_down_face:

More injuries sadly, story of the season really. Impey, Turner and Chalcraft out, 3 key players playing the premiership favourites who are pretty much at full strength. They have left out 3 Freo emergencies Walker, Scerri and Davies. They will all come in if unused on Friday night. Tom Smith has the job of rucking against Darcy. A learning experience for him no doubt. I will be very surprised if Swans get within 10 goals and if Peel get on a roll it could get quite ugly.

The interesting part of the day will come early when the top 2 teams in the reserves will clash, with Swans trying to preserve their unbeaten record

Sadly not just this season Mike. The last 2 years I have never seen anything like it in my time following Swans (nearly 50 years) with player availability and even more frustratingly to players we cant afford to be off the park!
