It was a bit of concern rolling up at the game to find a couple of outs in Scott Jones and Hamish Brayshaw and losing Mitch Schofield within the first quarter and playing one man short for most of the game.
We were very scratchy before half time but a lot better second half. Special mention to debutant Darcey Craven who kicked four goals.
A lot of negative comments from eagles supporters about how the wafl is unfair to them.
the rules that apply to them are about the same in the vfl so i don’t know how they think they will do better if they can’t identify and recruit better top up players. Moving to a AFL reserves won’t fix their problems.
Notwithstanding that our first half was nothing flash, it’s always nice to inflict some scoreboard pain on our former “tormentors”, Chaddy.
Led by Darcy Craven, I thought our five inclusions all had solid games.
Angus Schumacher, aside from his miss from point-blank range in the second quarter, was his usual imposing self; Tom Graham, while not dominant, hopefully emerged from the game unscathed; Jedd Edwards proved to be an able replacement for the “resting” Scott Jones; and Adam Boules exorcised the ghosts of Rushton Park past (though that was a largely disappointing day for most of the team three weeks ago).
