I wish we in the WAFL had footage like this - a 1 hour 51 minutes - wrap of the 1981 season. We used to have it. I can remember Peter Waltham hosting at least one end of season compilation.

Yeah LH the WAFL, 7, ABC have a lot to answer for just letting all that WA football history recorded go to absolute waste & showed absolutely zero foresight …it would seem in SA they have been light years ahead of us in this regard!

Is that old WAFL footage gone or just stored away on tape somewhere in their vaults?

I hate to say it but now that I’m watching a lot of old SANFL I’m starting to think those in SA had more passion for their footy than we did. Better kept grounds that looked like top level football venues not country ovals, bigger crowds despite a smaller population. How they managed to squeeze in 66,000 for a grand final at Adelaide Oval is amazing until you see the footage with people sitting on the ground right up to the boundary, an extensive (754 videos) file of historical footage available - all uploaded on to youtube free of charge to the viewer as it should be.
Having said that, we matched them player wise. It’s just that we can’t look back to see many of our champions - they can.
Apparently 7 taped over a lot of their old WAFL footage pre 87 & the ABC only have back to 1990 in H&A games except GF’s i am told when i enquired at their reception!
Sean was doing a great job putting old clips of the WAFL on the wafl video archive site but that hasnt been updated in a year now not sure what problem has occurred there?
As much as I hate to admit it i think SA do have more passion towards their footy than we do ..I couldnt imagine them allowing all their old footage to be taped over that is for sure!
