So as it sits from our GF side we have only lost Hamp and gained Langdon and a unknown in Bailey Thompson who has been sighted at training as having good skills and quick. Our depth has been pegged back a tad with Antonio, Delaporte, Manzone, Boyes, Burke and Yem leaving the club at this stage, can’t see us finishing top in all grades in 2023.
I’d say you will be right up there amongst it in all 3
where’s the ‘strong marker with the crooked nose’? has he signed yet?
Considering WP made a GF in all 3 grades last year, won a league GF and one of their colts boys won the Jack Clarke medal, that not one player got taken in the draft…talk about being kissed on the dick.
WP lose fark all year in and year out, thus enabling them to develop within, saving them a few dollars and building up their off field coffers…wish other clubs were as lucky…especially mine…16 players drafted in the last 4 years, with fark all compensation…think WP get a share of that LOL…and to think a WP fan has the cheek, to say EF are the new $ubi of the comp, in terms off field $pending.

Freeze, have a listen to yourself !
Granted that EF have an exceptional drafting record but figures can be embellished a tad. Of those 16 how many have returned and there are 2 x train ons not yet picked up so that 16 could turn into 10 in a flash. WP have always had one of the better retention rates in the comp hence the 100+ gamers on our list.
Anyhow I suspect the Sharks will make a GF at a minimum with the recruitment done over the last 3 years, your side is almost unrecognisable from the commencement of Bill’s tenure.

Satan, It doesn’t look like it has eventuated, the fellas name is Matt Shannon from the VFA and currently playing in the NTFL, the link is he is good mates with Meadows.

Whinnen what are you talking about? 16 can quickly become 10?
Sharpe, Jackson, Rivers, Chad Warner, Ruscoe, Carroll, Walker, Woewodin, Williams, McVee, Corey Warner, Teakle, Strnadica, Dixon, Joyce and Smith have been drafted in the last 4 years…how many have come back?..only 2 have come back…so going on your logic that’s 14 EF have lost…
Cleaver is staying at Essendon regardless, if drafted or not, to better his AFL chances, and Hagan has signed with Port SANFL, to be closer to Port AFL to better his AFL prospects…so that bangs it back up to 16 then.
All I know is, EF have had no choice but to recruit to cover all those player losses over that 4 year period…so until WP lose that many players in short time period, go easy on the snide EF are the new $ubi, with all their $pending references…interesting how $DFC $pending habits have been conveniently overlooked - Anderson, Palmer, Smith, Fisher,Costigan, Kemp, Pina and McLachlan of late…plus Glass-McCasker and Cameron are back as well.
Freez…you don’t have to defend your club against ridiculous comments as anyone with any footy IQ would know EF has been a conveyor belt for AFL draftees for decades and if those same players had stayed at the club, your Sharks would have been untouchable over the last 30 years or so.
Clearly when a club is regularly pillaged of its best young talent then there’s a need to recruit from elsewhere and that relates to East Freo more than any other club in the WAFL and possibly in the nation. Don’t waste your time responding to such nonsense.
Agreed, but I do look forward to EF being spelt $harks ![]()
Young Bailey Thompson has an ankle injury,
Bugger, hope its nothing too serious ![]()
hi guys first time posting after many years of following this site(and the old footygoss!) got time on my hands now so was interested in your thoughts about our prospects this season. The obvious seems that we should do well since we have a settled squad with few losses(although Manzone,Paton Delaporte and Antonio would have been handy for depth) and a good pickup in Langdon.I think it will come down to whether the coaching staff can keep the squad motivated to succeed. Also I think we played at a very high level last year and I don’t know if we have much improvement in us whereas other teams probably can go an extra level.Interesting statistic - since I have been following the Cardinals/Falcons we have won 8 GF’S(including last year). Of the previous 7 we have not made the finals in 4 and got knocked out in the first semi the other 3(all final 4 years). OK I admit i’m a cup half empty sort of guy but history has a habit!! Anyway Whinnen,Winger,Falcon,et al.would love your thoughts.
WP should have good motivation as it trys to win back to back flags; overall, the cub has the best key position players in the WAFL, which is positive for next season. It terms of standard, the team it would give the better sides since the year 2000, some check. Keeping in mind, that, the following clubs have all had strong sides for short or long periods
EP
CL

SOUTH
SD
Hello The Feds. The boys didn’t stop training apart from their trip up north and a few days over Christmas. Bailey Thompson still has a foot problem. Rudy has lost another six kilos and is super fit and cant wait for the season to start. Not much more to tell.
Thanks Ark and Winger.Ark you make a good point about. those sides you mentioned. In fact all of them have won premierships since 2000.I’ve enjoyed your posts over the years.Thanks. And Winger thanks for the updates. You seem close to the action and appreciate the info - especially on Rudy.A fit and firing RR will bring a new dimension to that forward line.
Inter club scratch match today, I couldn’t make due to work commitments. Next week WP v EF at Joondalup, normal start times.
We will be ok in the motivation dept, never lacked any of that. It all depends on injuries and winning 80%of the tight games against the top sides. I reckon EF, CL, Peel and WP will be the main threats this year, any bad losses against the bottom 3 or 4 sides will determine the top 3 ladder positions !
Dobbo brought us home so many times last year including the GF. Can we have Dobbo and Rudy in the same side. They are not so similar and yet similar, strange way of putting it. We haven’t recruited all that well and we have lost a few players, ammo is back and firing, Kane Bevan is one to look out for.
I think you have recruited ok and not lost much, plus Hutchings. Back to back I recon
Dags, as you are well aware injuries play a big part so will see who stays predominantly healthy.
