He never actually retired, was just an incorrect rumour on here.
Yes I was probably one of the guilty ones there. I assumed that once Tony had achieved the games record that he would call it a day, especially as he is commuting from the South West. He also wasn’t at his best in the finals series and looked a bit tired, perhaps from all the commuting.
I am very happy that Tony is going around again. At his best he is still worth a place in the team. I think the club needs to be smart as to how they manage him though and build in breaks for him during the season so that he can still have some gas in the tank at finals time.
He was going to retire at the end of 2023 but the record was a big carrot to chase. I guess after 2024 and how close the lads came to a flag why retire?
