I understand the rationale behind what he’s trying to do but certainly don’t completely agree with it. If prices of imported goods from Mexico, Canada and China go up, then in theory demand should fall and manufacturers in those countries will start to hurt, tax revenue for their respective governments will drop and so on.
So it will impact the countries he’s targeting to some extent, but I don’t think he’s factored in the inflationary effect in the US and what it could mean for interest rates. The Fed might be very loathe to further cut rates if inflation is rising due to tariffs on imports. He wants to stimulate the economy with low inflation, low unemployment by new jobs created in targeted industries, low interest rates but I’m not sure he’s going to get it.
It’s a big gamble by His Orangeness and I hope for the sake of all our super balances as markets react, it doesn’t come back to bite him on the arse and the rest of us globally.
Utterly bizarre the attack on Canada, all apparently over Fentanyl, Canada counts for about 1% of US Fentanyl use, not to mention the amount of drugs leaving the US for Canada, Cocaine etc plus guns.

It takes hundreds of hours of intense training, psychometric testing, ongoing evaluation and assessment.
