Well another season and another first game against CL.Don’t the boffins at WAFC doing the fixtures know that you can change things around every so often? Anyway it is what it is and the interesting thing will be how the punters embrace a night game on a Thursday.Admittedly it is the start of a long weekend but I can’t see a lot of CL supporters making the trek and only the WP faithful will come along.Even if there has been some minor mention of the game on club websites I can’t see neutrals flocking to the game.
Hard to get a line on CL.They seem to have a strong squad but we usually say that this time of the year. They have recruited OK this year without too many standouts but they have also lost a few.We have our deficiencies as well (height in our backline being one) but we seem to be a solid unit. Will be keen to see how Kane Bevan goes this year.
Should be an even contest with hopefully us coming out winners.Just a request: if you boys can post any match reports for the first 2 games it would be much appreciated.Off tomorrow for a cruise so will miss the first 2 rounds and with internet a bit iffy may have to catch up on the comments when I get back.Anyway great to have the footy back and hope your teams do well (except when you play us of course!)
Agree Feds it always amazes me and bores me to see the same opening fixture year in year out. Used to be Perth v WCER every year until last season when they thought what a great idea to pit German up against his old team Subi, then do it again this year and both times at Lathlain. Mix it up every year I say. Good luck to all clubs on the weekend hopefully everyone gets through unscathed injury wise.
I see Josh Rotham has been pulled into line and named on the Eagles reserves list in the budget. Money talks.
What’s the go with new lights they are shit..
Dark on the outer side
Well done to both teams who put on a fabulous spectacle for a great crowd. What a way to start the WAFL season, the atmosphere looked great watching it on the AFL site. West Perth showed a lot of character to fight back when for long periods in the last quarter it looked like Claremont would hang on. Glad to see that Knott kicks freak goals against opposition other than Swans
A good crowd of about 4,000 turned out to watch this game apparently. On what is a lovely evening outside.
With the forecasted fine weather over the remainder of the weekend, hopefully the other matches can be as equally attended or bettered.

Totally agree. I was there and the lights were shite. Lift your lux
Synergy is probably one of their creditors that got diddly squat so they’ve put them on candle power after 6pm.
Why did the last quarter go for 35 mins? Ridiculous. Way too long.

I think you are very confused. Josh Rotham is on the Eagles Afl list.
I think you are meaning his brother Sam who used to work for The Eagles in admin and played for West Perth.
He has decided to play ammos than be forced to play for the Beagles in the wafl
Wrong DD, our Rotham is Sam, Josh has been with the Eagles for years.
Bull shit Mossy, the lights are outstanding and NO dark spots in the pockets. Concentrate on your grass at Moss St, from reliable sources, you won’t play there this season.
9 goals were scored JL.
What a game, what a night. Lights were very good, the oppo punters bagging them on here, you make me laugh. The WAFL Wonderland idea by the WAFC should be given a pat on the back, a crowd of 4500K and the music, disco approach was a hit with the young ones. My Daughter came along and really loved it, that is how you get the youngsters back to the WAFL. All of you will get an opportunity to witness the WW set up. Onto the footy, the WP spirit is alive and well, with an undermanned list we had too much ticker for the Tigers. I have said it many times and I will continue to say it, Claremont will be a better side without Bolton, he sucks the life out them, bagging his own players all night long.
Go Falcons
My two least favourite teams - but if you got 4000 there for a 710 start - very well done.

Fair enough, shows how much attention I pay to the Eagles list. So not even brotherly love can sway him?
Well done to WP on trying something different with a Thursday night fixture to open the season. Great crowd and atmosphere under the new lights which are comparable to the lights at Lathlain. Had a chance to have a kick in the oval in the break and it was very bright. Plenty of young spectators in the crowd which the WAFL desperately needs.
Game was played at a frantic pace early with WP jumping out of the blocks and looking considerably better than C in the first half. To our boys credit, they regrouped and piled on 8 unanswered goals, including a 4 gifts via WP’s poor disposal coming out of the backline.
WP flicked the switch late in the last to run over the top. Across the park they looked younger and fitter than my mob.
Losers blame umpires and free kick counts for why they lost. But you give away more kicks if you’re second to the footy and we were second to the footy for too much of the game.
Got to the game half way through the 1st quarter with my Indian mate sabu, he’s just arrived in the country because he wants to see his family doctor. Sabu couldn’t believe the amount of piss that was consumed at the can bar, I said sabu you want to see the amount of piss that’s consumed at bombo valley and the pig pen, poor bastard didn’t have a clue. Anyway, the Africans next door have moved out and gone upper class and moved to Pingelly, apparently the rent is cheaper there, got me stuffed. The hand baggers had a bloody good side and the garlics had a few newbies so my analysis of the game is with a few under my belt is that the hand baggers only got on top because the garlics cocked up for one and half quarters and the garlics didn’t give up. Screemars simple analysis. hey fairy floss moss street, the lights are fantastic, I could see my can quite clearly. Couldn’t see my mate sabu.
Screemer you’re a scream. Your curry muncher mate probably arrived on a dodgy student visa, enrolled in a dodgy course and arrived with a fake Mumbai drivers licence. You know what that means? He’ll have his own ABN, a WA drivers licence and a Taxi plate within 2 weeks. That’s what happens under the Albanese government.
Hahaha, very good
