The non Ashes Ashes

I watched the last half of the RL test match between the Wallabies and the Poms. Not a bad game from what I saw.But the Aussies were far superior to the Poms, and it was only in the last minute that the Poms registered on the score board.
Aussies winning26 to 6.
After watching the display from Reece Walsh in the NRL GF, I was once agins blown away by his skill in the second half last night. Regardless of whether you like the game or not, he is an amazing player.
Not sure how cricket ever allowed the RL use the name Ashes for a Pommie series.
Second test next Friday or Saturday… I think.

Anchor
Rugby League is in huge trouble in the UK.
Looks like Sky Sports UK ,will drop the pay Tv deal.At the end of the 2026 season.
Average attendance is 10,044 per match.Bottom of the ladder sides average under 5,000 per game.
At least half the Super League clubs are close to bancruptcy.
Leaving the BBC as the broadcaster post 2026.But no massive pay tv deal.

Well yeah i’m old school…ANY thing except the Ashes in cricket than the Mens teams …leaves the name so badly weakened

Turns out the series was a white wash.
The Aussies winning all three tests.
I didn’t watch the test last night as it was on too late. Aussies won 30 to 8.
Apparently Walsh played another outstanding game, but failed to win the man of the series award, that going to Cameron Munster.
There seems to be a real push for the tests between the Aussies and the Poms to become a regular event.
But , the Ashes to me will still only apply to the cricket Ashes.

Tradition aint what it was ( sadly) bastardizing every thing, stealing names, claiming records from another different era etc.
Sport is still there…BUT NOT AS WE KNOW/KNEW it
