The End of Kelmscott FC as we know it!!

With Kelmscott forfeiting league and reserves the last two weeks this is surely the end for them as a higher grade club if not for good.

If they don’t try and merge with someone like Armadale then I think it is all over for this once proud club.

Be interesting to see if they even field a side for the rest of the season but I doubt it as the mid-season spending splurge has come to an end methinks!

Major
You were on the money with your early call of Kelmscott forfeiting, even ahead of their Bar Manager. You must be in the know.

Given the early call, was the forfeit Kelmscott’s call because of a lack of players or was it WAAFL initiated? If it was WAAFL initiated I hope they have a plan as over the next 3 rounds Kelmscott plays Hamersley/Carine, Stirling and Maddington, the 3 teams all trying to avoid relegation. A forfeit to one of these teams and not the others could have serious repercussions. So it really has to be just this game as a forfeit or have we seen the last of Kelmscott for the season.

Much as I dislike what Kelmscott has allegedly been up to, I understand they have PLENTY of company across all grades.

On that basis alone, I find it disappointing that they have become everybody’s whipping boy.

Who knows what will happen to them?

Time for a regime change down there methinks.

So what happens then come the end of the year …
Do they get a standard relegation to C grade with another B grade team ?
Or do the get the flick completely down to the E grades? Then what happens, with two teams from C grade going up and one only coming down does that mean 3 teams go up from C2 to fill the gap in C1 ?

My view is that Kelmscott will not play again this season.
If they manage to scrape a side together for next season it will be in E1 only.
As a result the league will only relegate one side to C1 from B grade for next season however as you say LFH they will most likely promote three sides from C2 into C1 to make up for Kelmscott no longer coming down unless of course only one side elects to go up which is allowable under the by-laws I believe.
If three go up then this will have a trickle down effect to all lower grades.

Kelmscott will at best be allowed to participate as a 1 team club in E1 next year, if they are allowed to participate in the WAAFL at all.
I think the WAAFL will only relegate the bottom side from C1 and promote the 2 teams from C2. 8 & 9 have been competitive in C1 this year and by only relegating 10th it stops a massive ripple effect through the C2-4.

My understanding is,they were barred from playing as a punishment for playing another unregistered player against Swan Ath.

Kelmcott even with all the crap that has happened down at Kelmscott gotta feel for the guys still there who just want to play footy for their community club.

100%. Its really sad to see them go from a very, very competitive A grade side to just nothing in 3 years. Goes to show if you try and just buy a premiership then its not going to last and the hangover will be 100x worse. To top things off they didnt even get any silverware through this whole shitshow and innocent players that have history at the club now might have to look elsewhere next season! Hopefully the juniors keep going strong and they can rebuild! I would love to hear from some of the crew down there? When they were on top on A grade it seems they had 10+ supporters from the club on these forums and now just crickets…

Unlikely given that Kelmscott have retained their score for the matches against Swan Ath.

Agree it is disappointing for the players at Kelmscott who just want to have a kick at their local club but it is unbelievable that they were unable to field 22 players for their League team on the weekend given that they’ve played over 60 players in that team this season (plus a few unregistered ones).

I think everyone understood that Kelmscotts ‘approach’ was teetering on the edge of a slippery slope but they have genuinely fallen off the edge of the cliff since being a competitive A Grade side in 2015.

One down from B and two up from C1 would be the likely scenario.

As they would be deemed a C1 side after Round 18 this year, I would assume that the bottom side from C1 would go down and the Grand Finalists from C2 would go up would be the likely scenario.

my source tells me they had a certain time to respond to the league and they did not so they were suspended saturday and will remain so until they respond.

My info is they have elected to forfeit the rest of the season

That’s shit for all the players they managed to get from other clubs to help rebuild them. Players have left their club to come to kelmscott and now they have nothing.
Players probably should have know better but still to just pull up stumps (if that’s correct)
I can’t see the waafl offering them an oopportunity to come back in next year as it has been a constant battle between the two since they arrived.

Imagine playing for the ressies the last few years! 2 years ago in A grade they were getting pumped by WELL over 100 points a game, same as 2016. Then finally come down a grade and a smaller player base meaning guys have to play 8 quarters but hey at least your now you can compete and even get some wins! Then all gone…

The Manager and the Major look to have some inside knowledge.

Hamersley Carine have confirmed on their Facebook Page that they don’t have a League or Reserves match v Kelmscott tomorrow and have instead organised a bus trip to watch their colts and Thirds matches.

Can anyone confirm whether the WAAFL have notified the B Grade clubs that Kelmscott have been removed from the remaining B Grade season?
