East Fremantle must overcome a Werribee side packed with talent on the oval at Subiaco tonight if they wish to advance to next month’s Foxtel Cup grand final.

The Tigers, seventh on the VFL ladder, named a strong team with a potent forward line.

East Fremantle also named a strong side, with Sean Henson and Max Duffy (both with hamstring injuries) the only players who couldn’t be considered from Saturday’s 66-point belting of Subiaco.

Sharks coach Steve Malaxos expected his players to be ready, despite having only three days to recover.

The Sharks managed a seven-point win over Norwood at AAMI Stadium in similar circumstances to get through to tonight’s semifinal. Forecast rain could suit East Fremantle after they revelled in those conditions in Adelaide in May.

“Werribee are a very capable side and are going to be pretty fit and skilful,” Malaxos said.

“They have been a good team for a couple of years so it is going to be a good challenge for us.”

The Sharks have not played at Subiaco since losing the WAFL grand final to Claremont last year. Malaxos believed his side, which is sitting outside the top four, had built momentum over the past three weeks.

“All our indicators are much better in the last three or four weeks than they were previous to that,” he said.

"We didn’t quite get the job done in a couple of previous games - two three-point losses in a row away from home.

“The last three or four weeks we have been able to consolidate the team.”

East Fremantle have embraced the Foxtel Cup and are focused on making the decider, possibly against Claremont, who play West Adelaide in Adelaide next Tuesday.

“We have taken the Foxtel Cup quite seriously,” Malaxos said.
