Team for Round 1

Two scratches done now.

Round 1:
FB: HIne-Baston, Preston-Coates, Sing

HB: Taylor, Scoble, John

C: Davis, Constable, Catchard

HF: Parfitt, Schlensog, Thorne,

FF: Stubbs, A. Clarke, Paton,

Followers: Edwards, Bryne, Randell

Bench: Watson, Wills, McClean, Phillip,

Injured: R. Clarke, Derksen, Johnston, Hill, Dellamarta, Poole, Simpson

Unlucky not to be selected: Coniglio, J. Clarke, Kemp

Work to do: Quartermaine, Williams,

Query on the outer: Brogan-Henry,

Weakness of team selected:
Height in the backline. Preston-Coates doing a pretty good job and will get better, but still developing.
Very young and inexperienced Bench - Maybe swap one out for J Clarke,
Stubbs in the forward pocket - Gotta bring balls he cant mark to ground whilst staying on his feet and locking it in.

Solid Reserve players that I know of (could be more) - that we have to keep motivated in case we play finals and get a late injury:
Gray, Bodle, Moore, Jacques, Evans, Al-Shuweli, Murray

Not sure that Coniglio will miss the line up.

Ditto Simpson unless he’s injured

I forgot about Simpson, have seen so little of him. I will add him into the above teams injury list.

I just thought Bodle would be better than Stubbs and Q

I’m concerned av=bout injuries yet again. Potentially going into round 1 q - R Clarke, Johnston, Simpson and Poole are best 22. Dellamarta, Derksen, Hill, and Broadbent are handy for depth but also suffering injury. What is wrong with Clarke? I don’t regard Bodle as a league quality player. I’d also give Gray a starting berth. I like tagging as a concept, especially against a good midfield like SF. However, the fact that Gray has played reserves in pre season may suggest that Stone doesn’t rate him. Coniglio should definitely be in the best 22.

Preston-Coates is never going to be a top player, but he needs to be steady until Johnson comes back. I am worried that he may get monstered by Keitel in Round 2. We need to be prepared to swing Schlensog onto Keitel if he is getting off the chain.

The difference I feel between Bodle and Stubbs/Q is that he is slightly down on talent in the first case and muscle in the second, BUT he has a big desire to do his best and the best for the team.

Good call about Keitel - though hopefully the supply not going to get to him and it shouldn’t matter.

Regan Clarke has been in concussion protocol so should be available. Poole the same but probably won’t play round 1. Brogan-Henry has a 2 week suspension to serve.

Just remembered that Brodie Gray has a two week suspension from the Ressies final last year too.

Just noticed Broadbent is no longer listed. If we have injuries to our tails we could be badly exposed.

I saw him there on Saturday. Maybe on the injury list. He is on our list on the WAFL site.

I know that we are on TV next week and thats why it’s probably starting at 7:10 as it will be straight after the news. It’s great to be on TV and even the main channel which is 7. Don’t get me wrong but if the usual times of colts at 9:15am, Reserves at 11:45am stay, you could have the WAFL League Women starting at 2:30pm and then the men starting at 4:30pm or even 5pm.

I think 7 are going to broadcast every WAFL league match. Not sure how they are going to pull that off. I think most of the matches will be streamed on 7Plus with maybe one match on 7HD or Mate. I’m guessing fixture start times are going to be all over the place to suit 7.

“The expanded deal will see all Sullivan Logistics WAFL coverage broadcast live, free and exclusively on Seven West Media via its platforms – Seven, 7mate and 7plus Sport – from 2025 to 2027, with a further option for a longer-term extension.

”In 2025, 21 marquee WAFL games will be broadcast live and free on Seven or 7mate with at least 11 of those games to be played under lights. The prime-time action kicks off between Perth v South Fremantle, at Mineral Resources Park on Saturday, 5 April on Seven and 7plus Sport.”

Interesting, Woodcock in the West rates Parfitt as the best player in the WAFL.
Hope he hasn’t put the mocker on him.
And hopefully no injuries.
Interestingly:
Aaron Clarke 10
Charlie Constable 4
Sam Simpson 40 - because of injury last year.

Not sure what others think but I think we have recruited bloody well.
That makes me optimistic.

Whos Woodcock ??? He probably cut & pasted Townsends top 40 and added this seasons high profile recruits.

I don’t like this game bullshit with not naming the starting line up - Constable on the hbf for example. Garbage. Randell ff and Derkson straight in?

Can someone else call the club and tell them about our ridiculous website. Schlensog still in his South Freo kit. Our Captin who has been with ut 17 months in a generic jumper.

South by 10 GOALS

No Aaron Clarke, Stubbs or Sam Simpson. The injury curse has started already. Clarke didn’t miss one practise game. Unless there are mistakes surely Quartermaine plays seniors.

Randall used to play FF sometimes at Peel. Can take hang- saw one recently he took as well.

Your team looks strong to me- some big names. Great to see most of you have jumped off - no wonder you’re such an average club!!

PS. Leggett and Marlin get to admire the unveiling of the 2023 flag on Saturday- Avery gets to dream- what if? What a club! Thanks for the players Perth….

Clarke missing the first 2 games I hear. Attending his brother’s wedding.
Simpson obviously not quite ready yet. Stubbs I’m not sure, possibly injured.
