Even better seeing the WI roll Eng.
They will cruise into the Super 8s but I wonder about the bowling depth against the better sides. The batting has enough power , with or without Marsh. What I liked last night was their ability to adapt their approach to the conditions. The partnership between Renshaw and Stoinis was very smart. Lots of 2s when the boundaries were not coming
AUST V ZIM.
Aussies win toss, elect to field. Dwarshuis in, Bartlett out,Connoly out.David back. Marsh still out.
Zimbabwe well on top of an ordinary Australia atm.
Gee Inglis & Green are out of form, must be a WA trait atm!
Never really looked in the game.
But well played to the Zimmers.
Well played Matt Renshaw. He has improved immensely.
For some CRAZZZY reason,I had Nightmares from â83 come flooding back,âŚ..
The WA contingent (Inglis, Green, David & Stoinis) scored a combined 14 runs at an avg of 3.5.
Sheesh!
Get on the Azzurri BH.
Well played Zimbabwe, deserved the winâŚas Australia definitely deserved the loss.
Zimbabwe out batted, out bowled, out fielded and out smarted us.
Gee the Australian side needed a good kicking and they duly got it!
Only one Australian player earned his pay today and that was Renshaw. The rest were not up to scratch and they need to do a lot of soul searching before they play Sri Lanka. Zimbabwe caught them napping today and perhaps there was a bit of complacency/arrogance in the team. Lets see how they respond. I really donât understand how Steve Smith could not make this team better with his presence. He may get a chance if Marsh is ruled out for the whole tournament. As I have said in previous posts Australias bowling attack is very threadbare and they were found out today by the opposition batsmen
I think Marsh has to be declared Unfit to Play the rest of the Tournament before any replacement can be brought in.
Mitch needs to tell the selectors he can go on,or pull the plug soon.
Smith could be brought in for Hazlewood potentially but Stoinisâs injury today may complicate things. Abbott is also over there as a reserve
Cant believe Turner canât make this side and probably captain it as well.
Good Point. While we are on Scorchers players, great to see Finn Allen doing so well for the Kiwis. Basically carrying over his BBL form
The selection of players for this tournament has been all over the place and the consequences were felt in the defeat to Zimbabwe and they may well be on their way home this time next week.
Maxwell really had an awful BBL and was picked on reputation
Inglis has done very little this summer mainly because hes been sitting on the bench for a lot of time, not his fault
David has just come off over a month of no cricket after injuring his hamstring
Green is not being used as a bowler, he also had no BBL cricket in the lead up
Neither did Head
Carey has not been considered for the WC even though he has been in top form all summer including a stint in the BBL
Ditto Smith although he looks like he might get a game now due to injury
If you were looking at it objectively you would think that the heirarchy donât really care about this World Cup and the chickens are now coming home to roost
Head was banging on about mental fatigue as wellâŚI wish the selectors just went young with Aust T20 squadâŚopportunity to blood some new faces, instead of rolling out the same tired old faces every year.
I didnât realize the T20 WC is every 2 yearsâŚFMDâŚno wonder why some countries donât give a fudge about it. India always will care, because white ball cricket is all they are good at now.
Sri Lanka today. Maybe last chance for the Aussies to qualify. They need a big team effort.
Marsh back in. No Smith.
Aussies sent in to bat.
Looks like a big crowd.Of course the vast majority for SL.
Big changes for Oz, Connolly and Bartlett in in place of Renshaw and Dwarshuis and Kuhnemann.
6 over PP 0/70. Marsh 34, Head 35.
Breezy brutal start.
Lost easy by 8 Wickets, with 2 Overs to spare!
We are OUT of the Tournament!
The $4m dollar man has had a stinker of a summer!
