Swans v West Coast 31st May

Kohlmann and Lynch back into the provisional team this week. I thought that West Coast might rush their MSD pick Tom McCarthy over here to play but he hasn’t been named. I’m wondering if the crowd will get to 1000 given the plight of both teams and the wet and cold weather which has finally set in.

Looks like you’re a chance to chalk up win No 2 here Mike.

Yeah a chance for sure but not taking anything for granted. I read a report that Tom McCarthy has arrived in Perth and will be playing for WCE tomorrow. Swans are the only team that the Eagles have never beaten. We have a 10-0 record against them

Sad part is there is always a 1st time.
Maybe a danger game for you.

Surely not Mike their team is finalised and he’s not named not even in the emergencies.

As always it depends on just how many are filtered back down on the matchday

those 2 midseason players will play if they want them to - they get exemptions from the WAFC pretty easily now

But the good thing here is that Swan Districts get a few good ins like Kohlmann and Lynch

Yeah I take their named team with a pinch of salt, similarly Peel. Often it changes on the day. The Swans team looks better balanced this week with the injection of a few young guys in Ethan Kane and Luke Cotellessa, who hopefully will be long term players for Swans. The selection committee have finally bitten the bullet and dropped both the Blakleys. Conor in particular is adding very little to the team and is depriving a young player of an opportunity. Doc is still worth consideration for a spot but not in the same 22 as Yukich

Lewis Tester is a big out.
He has probably been in our best 3 players so far this season and he along with Ben Hewett are the only one’s who have improved from last year, everyone else has either stagnated or gone backwards!

Story of the season BH. We get one back, then lose another. Very frustrating

A win is a win and we will take it but gee that was an error riddled game of footy. You can see why both teams are struggling. Swans played well in patches and got their running game going at times but often came to a halt due to skill errors or poor decision making. Luckily the Eagles were worse and fiddled around with the ball even more. Not a great spectacle. I did think that Yukich played a serviceable game and made his presence felt. Other than that young Costelessa showed enough to get further opportunities. Our mids gradually got on top after a slow start.

I was understandably unsure about this game, but we did enough after a very slow start that other teams would have taken better advantage of. Costelessa played well in his second game, as did Watson and Hilton in defence, but I was surprised at Lynch’s stats - ten possessions. That headband - and it wasn’t Chalcraft - seemed involved in more plays than that, but his two gaols and general attitude was encouraging for a guy that was unhappy three weeks’ ago. Still too many passengers, and Taylor who is usually sound did a few weird things in defence (was he concussed?), but let’s hope that Collins returns to add his dash in a fortnight against Perth.
