Baz, unfortunately, it is far from a record. It is what Perth do, over and over, because we are a fragile team of front runners who are not prepared to run and give second efforts. A few come to mind: some years back we were 3 goals up v SD with literally 5 minutes left and lost. 3-4 years ago, we were 4 goals up v EF at half time and lost by over 50. Against C just last year, we lost despite an 8-1 goal first quarter. And most infamously, in the year Leon Davis played, we lost a 50p 3 quarter time lead v SF. Like I said, if you are prepared to keep running, Perth can be very easily overwhelmed and everyone knows it.
Let’s worry about this Year,NOT the Past, although even with us,it’s nice to reminisce.
Swans shouldn’t have lived with us(with or without Schlenga).
WE forgot to put the polish on a Fair lead and as a consequence,LOST a Game we shouldn’t have!
With a little lesson and a well deserved, self inflicted kick up the Ar*e,time to move forward already!
IF the Playing Group is Good Enough, they’ll go on to better things As I quoted, the next Opponent(and more)ARE in Deep,Deep,Deep You Know what!
But that’s up to the Players to make that happen, regardless of how we think!
Come on Red and Black.
If you’re out of the OzFootball Doghouse(pardon the pun
),what do you think?!
And they say a week in footy is a long time….try a half of footy……chalk n cheese for both sides….
It’s one Half we’ll never get back.
That one was won and lost in the coaches box. After Swans switched from their loopy retreat and switch boundary hugging game style to go man on man after half time and start to handball forward they absolutely burnt us off. We’re playing too many kids out of necessity. We’re a couple of quality players - one being Schlenga - short and Luers abjectly failed as the lead up forward. We missed Johnno.
To maybe provide some hope to people - The Dockers of 2024 blew many a late lead in a game. Up by 25 in the last v Essendon and lost comes to mind. They are going well now.
I look at the team and am pretty happy with it. Yes Luers needs some kicking practice and we are probably exposing Tomasini too early, but over all our players are good - just have to be more consistent.
Watson poor yesterday (including his two free kick reversals) but very good last week. Similar to Paton - brilliant last week poor yesterday. Kluske and Wills others that were down yesterday. One with the excuse of getting use to WAFL football and the other the same as the first two mentioned - young and needing consistency.
5 and 4 will be ok if we snag a big fish within the 3 weeks after
MUST WIN next week!
NO Ifs or Buts!
Must win for Subi also…should be a cracker
I’m sure it is.
No it isn’t,mate.
Got a lot of Winnable games up until the Final Round. It was a BAD LOSS Yesterday! No doubt about it!
But we can still Win most of our remaining Fixtures, though getting Schlenga back into it is Vital!
I’m thinking he gets back to full fitness by the Bye,giving him an extra week to make sure of it!
That means he returns against East Perth on July 4th.To ease him into it,stick him in the Forward Line that day and leave him there.
He can start going around the ground the week after against the eagle reserves.
Can always blame Dees’ favourite(and Swans’ in John Townsend, probably fitting Swannies up on 2 counts -
1 - Placing Swans instead of us at the scene of Subi’s Record Crushing 1st Semi Final Win in 1959.
2 - Reminding Swans of their Financial largesse in 2010.
Someone’s ears had to pop up,then wire up those Swans boys to fix us up!

What on earth are you talking about here ole?
People log on to see if there are any new posts - happy to see there is and then waste their time reading your (unedited) stream of conscious.
Edit before you post please. Maybe keep it on track too.
Well,if you listen to Before The Footy, you would have heard what Townsend said on Saturday Morning.
It was just a lighthearted dig at John, blaming him for firing those Swannies up!
Besides,if you know your Perth and WAFL History, you should know what those 2 points were all about.
That’s all fair, but can you please write assuming not everyone knows the inside story - then we can follow along and maybe comment too - Good Man
Mate WAFL Footy History(well, post 1943 at least)should be second nature to WAFL Footy Fans.
Though John said a bit more about the extent of Swans’ Expenditure back then, that had me dropping the jaw somewhat.
Do you know who else was on the show and more interestingly what he said about who should get the credit for Darcy Moore’s Drafting?!
Should make a few Demon Jaws shatter on the floor,…… ![]()
