State Labor and the Stadium

Are they hopeless or what or just seriously trying to lose the election delibrately - now cancelling the Burswood Stadium and going back to that cluster in Subi..friggen hell lets hope they never win, otherwise it will never happen under them.

I reckon its a good decision, it was John Langolants numb 1 spot and Mr Arrogant, i know best, Farkwit Emporer Barnett decided, no i will go against expert opinion and help out Packer and co, i wouldnt be surprised if there is corruption in there somewhere too after the revelation of private meetings between Govt and Packer! But i really dont care as i wont be going there and it foes FA for the WAFL

are you crazy.

Some people think the stadium can simply be dropped onto Kitchener park and it’s not the case, like Burswood, there will need to be substantial infrastructure changes, like resuming 50 or so private residences so that Roberts Road can be diverted. Dont forget that Subi council have always had strict controls over how many night events can be staged at the stadium, 11 I think is the maximum per year to protect the amenity of the local residents because this is a prime residential area that really can well do without 40,000 people moving in and out let along 60,000. Burswood will have no such restrictions

Burswood is a designated entertainment precinct with dual highway access plus rail. Wherever the stadium was located, East Perth, Subiaco, Burswood or Cockburn it will benefit nearby businesses, in this case it happens to be Crown. lets not get carried away with unproven conspirisy theories, those of you with labor leanings should reflect on what your party did in the 80’s before making unfounded accusations.

Reflect on building all the railways and freeways etc, yeh mate I always reflect on that!

If the election wasnt a foregone conclusion before today it is now with McGowan’s ridiculous decision to push ahead with Kitchener Park :silly: ..Subi cant handle 40k crowds now let alone 70k into the future!
Labor better get used to another 4 years in opposition!

Agree… either go back to the past..OR open Perth up becuse like it or not we will in the future become a major city, and we will need to have structures etc in place to cater for the population. Subiaco is an embarrssement and they want to expand it in a “suburb”.. yeah that will work!!

Absolutely moronic from these idiots in Labor. Another 4 years of stroking the tool for these clowns. If there is 1 thing they needed to not stuff around with its this. Liberal have stuffed up by not turning dirt already. It needs to get started so there can be no turning back

Mate it defies logic to give up something which will be world class for Perth for the 3rd world Subi option ..this New South Wales pr!ck McGowan has made me vote Liberal for the first time over this!

Exactly , the bloke must be on drugs , Gallop and then Carpenter sat on the stadium plan for years and years, how many reports did they commission?.. And did nothing…then they did langoulant which McClown clearly hasn’t read because that nominated east Perth power station as the best option not Kitchener park, then carpenter decided to ignore that and guess what pick subi again..back to the future, ..subi would be the biggest dead duck location out, a hostile council, resumption of private houses, bloody hell it will be like servetus street all over again with appeals to the Supreme Court holding shit up for years..plus moving pensioners out of their homes…and another thing with Burswood you get to keep a down sized subi as a eagles training ground and boutique ground for wafl. Forget that with Kitchener Park.

This bloody giant train set he wants metronet, reckons he can do it for about five bucks , it will billions, the guys a nut.

I wish this McGowan would piss off back to NSW where he comes from & let us get on with taking this great city forward not backwards!

Any chance that Labor had of winning is now gone!
Just get on with building the bloody thing!!

I hope it never gets built anywhere Fukc the AFL! Hope the kunts go under! Carn the DUCKS!!!

There’s about 10 blokes at my work that were 50/50 on who to vote for, the minute they heard that announcement it made their minds up, he was a goner.

Lets face it if I had the choice between a new stadium in a go ahead location, and a bloody railway line going through Mirrabooka , I’m going for the stadium every time.

Put Barnett back in and have him skyrocket Utility costs again, short memories you mob.

W4eva I have always voted for Labor but this incredible decision by them to go back to the 3rd world Kitchener Park option and shelve a World Class Burswood Stadium that would put Perth on the sporting map absolutely defies logic
…I will now be voting for the Libs & in fact I hope they destroy this NSW blow in & he pisses off back there
…McGowan couldnt run a bath let alone OUR state!

Exactly how is a Burswood Stadium going to ‘put Perth on the sporting map’ ?

Its a stadium that 99% of its use will be for AFL games.

We have that now.

This is the same government that just refused to put money towards Liverpool FC visiting. If anything I see them as AGAINST putting Perth on the sporting map.

I believe the AFL should pay for the stadium. Andrew Demestos and his nibs sit on their arses and watch the tax payer fund infrastructure for our great game. Bollocks to em.

Why on earth would you put money towards an average privately owned pommy soccer team visiting Perth …if they really want to come here they can afford it themselves!
The new stadium wouldnt just showcase AFL footy but also International cricket, rugby, soccer matches, rock concerts, music festivals etc all the sort of stuff Subi council & its residents put restrictions on!

Given that “Perth Oval” will be completed shortly you will see much less rugby and soccer played on Burswood/Subi as it will then cater for 99% of its requirements.

Perth has never hosted a “big” soccer match is and unlikely ever to simply because regardless what we do here you’ll never drag the games that matter from Sydney (or Melbourne).

Cricket - are you kidding? The WACA has no interest in it.

Music? Maybe.
