The clubs has told some important full time staff this week they will no longer be requried… this includes the Full Time Club and Functions Manager. For the first time ever there wil be no full time bar manager. All to save money.
The club is in line for yet another huge loss this year, so massive cuts are being made,
How many clubs have to get into serious financial trouble before we stop living in the 70’s and 80’s and start making some changes for the competition to survive longer than 5-10 years?
And if $ubi had not have had that pathetic Subi Oval deal given to them by the WAFC handing them million$ of dollars for absolutely nothing every year for the last 20 odd years they would be in big strife like the rest of us!
I am not full bottle on the inner workings of wafl clubs these days. But I am surprised they have full time function managers and bar managers. I think if EF shared Fremantle Oval, both clubs could work together and employ staff on a casual basis to manage both clubs functions & bars. Its common sense and it is easily achievable & cost effective. The time is long overdue for clubs to work together practically in certain area’s.
The footy field rivalry is one thing, but operating smart outside of the battle field is another. For heavens sake, even the Mafia families in New York City work together when it comes to business. They just kill each other with the other stuff. But they are smart enough to understand the benefits each can bring to the other in terms of dollars.
Geez go easy will ya’s …the majority of this loss came off the back of Maintenance & upkeeping facilities … it has to be done … we paid for it ourselves unlike some !
B h raises a good point. I have always been amazed that it hasn’t stirred up a passionate debate in wafl circles. We have 8 clubs treading a thin financial lineand then you have $ubi fully loaded beyond belief. It’s crazy.
Out of the 300K lost only 20K was spent on maintenance…its a BS line the CEO is trying to sell.
Revenue DROPPED by 130,000.00 IN ONE YEAR! we have HALF the members we have 1 year ago…
These are the COLD HARD FINANCIAL FACTS.
People are walking away in droves, in favour of the dockers - and the Host club domination will kill interest even more..WHERE ARE THE NEW SUPPORTERS COMING FROM SOUTHERNER???
YEp SPOT ON BAZZ …WFT has gone on at the club the last few years…???
Unless we improve on the field members will continue to drop away in favour of the FFC…HUGE turn around needed during 2014 or will be just about wiped out in a years time financially…
Yes there’s been costs blown out and I don’t like the looks of the report in aspects … staff payments , loss on transfer fees to previous year, one off costs hurt too
As for new members ??? there under the clubs noses around around Freo , our people have to go out and sign them up in other words do their job
I will get my wallet out this year and put something in by way of donation may even sign my pet up haha
Unfortunately for every club , belts will have to tighten we’re one of them
I think the club will have to revisit the concert or entertainment on the ground idea and get some coin rolling
Think Kemp will come under the pump soon and probably Raitt too who knows
We need to win on the ground - sure, but that will not be enough long term, they might get a pick up in gate and memberships , but as you know its only ever a short term fix, we won a flag in 2009 and by 2013 half the fans have walked away.
BIG changes and hard decsions need to be made, some wont like it - but in a decades time the WAFL as we know it will not exists.
Hit the nail on the head … the good times of the Dimmer era and those good players of that time are gone now and it affects attendance accordingly … in conjunction with the co-tenants success too Baz
The club has identified local memberships and new memberships which is one positive but that needs to be followed up - again do their jobs
Sorry to say , but us members - we’re going to have to pull out the wallet this year … can always vote out the current heirachy if or when the time comes for it
Bottom line too is success is vital , must get somewhere soon there for sure baz
I will give you some insite on elections of the board.
At the last round of nominations for driectorships, one person nominated from outside, about two hours after putting in his nomination he received a mysterious phone call from the President advising him to withdraw his nomination as they did not want to hold elections , as one person had already been selected on the quiet.
The new comer felt pressured to withdraw and did so.
The place is being run under dubious circumstances.

Dead right Tiger Of Old but with a big $ubi man now on the WAFC board dont expect it to change until we finally get this new Burswood Stadium up and running!
Barney being a $ubi supporter know’s full well they will be in the same boat financially as the rest of us once this gift of a financial windfall they have been handed on a platter from Subi Oval thanks to the WAFC ceases!
Memberships is what keeps clubs making money these days good old mums and dad’s $300 per year and if that goes your fkd! Unfortunately for south those mums and dad’s are buying Dockers memberships now. Sponsors pay for players, staff and maintenance etc. If you have good membership you’ll make money simple as that. Except maybe for the ducks
