Of more recent times, i was always a big fan of the little East Freo tagger Wayne Roser.
Always put what little of him there was on the line, and attacked the footy without fear…
A bloke by the name of Steve Curtis for Ep wasn’t too shabby either just quietly
Marley and David Swan very hard at the ball and the player. Andrew Waller was crazy would run through brick walls.
David Swan very dirty player not sure about being one of the toughest. Bit of a sniper.
…bit of a sniper!! jeez, you’re the master of understatement there cesspit. between Swan and Billings being on the tribunal panel was almost a full time occupation for a while there.
What about the dirtiest ever ???
That is an easy one - Mifka
John Wynne was probably the worst I’ve seen. Basil Campbell was marginally better whilst from Subi Paul Miller and Lester Joyce had their moments.
Ahhhhh…that would be me Bazza :silly:
from an old EP perspective I cant go past Andrew Waller, Devan Perry, Craig Wulff, Ron Webster, Steve Curtis, Arron Marley, Glen Bartlett and Wayne Otway.
From the opposition Id go Ken Hunter, Ron Boucher, Brad Shine, Bill Duckworth, Wayne Delmenico and I thought considering his skinny frame Rod Barrett was tough in a sense. Got a few broken arms as a result.
David Swan gave a few and took a few, he wasn’t an elbower or puncher just hard at it. All about perspective I guess, but I doubt many on this forum would kick sand in his face.
I am surprised that so few seem to think that Stephen Michael wasn’t a hard footballer..
Though I may be looking through rose coloured glasses, surely he was far tougher footballer than most mentioned here.
Only an opinion mind you.
Stephen Michael another one I wouldn’t take on even in my prime.
…bit of a sniper!! jeez, you’re the master of understatement there cesspit. between Swan and Billings being on the tribunal panel was almost a full time occupation for a while there.

mea culpa…I take it back David…I was thinking of Michael Swan from the filth.
Same deal both snipers.
MiFKA ,really? Whys that,
For me Gerard Neesham…
Pretty easy to throw your weight round and be tough and hard being built like Boucher,TI,Basil etc were, fellas like Hunter,Curtis,Barrett,Skirowski etc were either small or skinny yet stood their ground v all comers…to me that’s being tough.
As for the dirtiest…all those mean and dirty Subi boys for piling on David Bushell that day he kindly helped some Subi player struggling to get under the fence at Subi Oval…Dave always the gentleman got pummeled for his good deed that day…not by one Subi player but by all 18 of them!
Oh yeah that was the EF bloke I was thinking of as the dirtiest Bushell, he was mad.
David Miers from S & C was pretty dirty from memory.
Tried doing a bit of research to answer Bazza’s question as to who was the dirtiest. Maybe WAFLFootyFacts could help us out as I couldn’t find an answer as to who has been the most suspended player in WAFL History and/or up before the tribunal most. The way Geappen is going this year he might just be leading that column. Any takers???
