Smith back for 2nd test

Just seen an interesting stat…at the same age Green is now(26), Webster had a FC average of 29, compared to Green’s current ave of 47…so hope for Cam yet then I guess…if Green follows the same career trajectoy as Webster has from age 26 to 31, now averaging 39…touch wood eh?

Do I detect a small amount of sarcasm there Freez!

Naagh mate, just that folk on here are happy to bury Green, yet at the same stage of his career, Green is 20 runs the better bat then Webster was, and most likely has the better bowling average as well…imagine if Webster was batting 3 for Australia at the same age as Green with a FC ave of 29…the guy would of been well n truly buried 12 feet under…yes he may not be a number 3, but still a talent, just batting too high in the order.

Second day: WI, 2/39.
I missed the first wicket, but the catch by Cummins in his first over!!! Spectacular.
A bit in the wicket and a bit of movement.

I just don’t want to Green being thrown all over the batting line up just to find a spot for him. They did it with Mitch Marsh.
Failure leads to the heavy criticism. And we all know the pounding Mitch copped. As he said, I was the most hated cricketer in Australia.
Wouldn’t like to see that happen to Green.

Top order is becoming a joke now. Kontas’s confidence is shot, the WINDIES fast bowlers have got into his head. Uzzie is a walking LBW and Green shouldnt really be batting at 3. The Pommy bowlers will be salivating at the prospect of using the new ball against this line up. Maybe its time to give McSweeney another go this time at 3. He was discarded very quickly last year because of his issues with Bumrah, but he was pretty much thrown to the wolves like what is happening with Kontas right now.
If the series is 1-1 after this test maybe they could bring Marnus back for the 3rd to open, at least he has experience in these types of situations

Good fighting knock by Green…will be disappointed to get out the way he did…looks like a pitch that is a tad unpredictable in bounce…anything over 250 will test the WI batsmen.

I have to say, for a fella who supposedly, is meant to know his game , that was a very poor shot by Slug…at 31 years old, you would think one would know better…must of thought he was 19 yrs old again, with that all mighty rush of blood.

Interesting to see the Indian’s cart Eng around for 1000+ runs in the 2nd test at Edgbaston…with Gill getting 400+ of them…is that the same Gill who struggled in the recent BGT series?..still hope I guess, for all the Ashes doomsdayers…

Good all round effort by the batsman, Gutsy effort by Green. 254 probably enough but another 40 or so would be useful

Only watched until the first rain, but Green looked very composed. Glad to see him among the runs.
Still need a few I reckon. Hopefully Carey and Cummins can add another 50.

Difficult pitch to bat on, batting fragility or quality bowling…Regardless of what…another test win and series win for the Patty & Ronald roadshow…

All quiet on the anti Patty and Ronald front it seems…been very impressed with WI young bowling attack…they have played their part…pity the WI batting and fielding havent backed them up. Could easily be 1 -1 or 2-0 to the WI…

I have to say that I am not a huge fan of Ronald. But that is only my opinion.
Cummins, a great bowler, but, like many, I still have the knifing of Langer in my mind.
The Windies bowlers have certainly done themselves proud and can hold their heads high. But, a bit like the Aussies, the batsmen need to improve.
I think that the Aussies will go in witht the same team as they have used so far. Though I did read where thay may take Kuhnemann as a second spinner.Leaving one of the quicks to have a spell.
I wonder if the construction of the ground, lights etc, will be ready for the pink ball test?
Listening to Cummins, it looks like they are going to stick wih Konstas and try to get him into form.
Khawaja!!! Does he stay as well?
