I read this article saying that WA could be without 10 of their 1st picked for the upcoming game against SA. If so, we ain’t seen ugly yet!!
Virtually no difference from last weeks game then 58 other than we could get Mitch Marsh back for this game as he didnt play vs NSW!
WA making a pretty good fist of it against SA. At tea, they only need another 68 runs to win outright with 7 wickets in hand but then again…it could all come crumbling down going on recent form.
Pleasing to see the Warriors bounce back from their performance against NSW last week. They are too far behind the 2nd placed team to make the final but hopefully they can finish the season off by winning their last 2 games to give them a bit of momentum into next year.
One thing they need to priorise is to sign up Josh Phillipe to a long term contract with the Warriors and Scorchers to keep those Blue Baggers at bay!
Interesting to see Short bat 7…far too talented to be batting there…WA needs to have him involved much sooner…yeah his longer format form is no where near his short format form…can’t see how Inglis is batting 3…surely Phillippe or Short should be given some higher order exposure for WA shield prospects to prosper…surprised Hardie hasn’t been given a game by now…can see a few of these boys moving on next year for more opportunities…
What sort of message does it send to our WA batsmen with Inglis batting at 3?
Dont get me wrong he is a very promising young keeper/batsman but he is not a number 3 batsman!
Spot on BH…don’t doubt the boys ability to wield the willow…just not at 3…proven again today…surely one of Short or Phillippe should be given that gig?..Not sure of Voges thinking TBH…been pretty uninspiring as a coach appt so far…only early days…but another season like this and Voges might be shown the door.
Seems like good news week for Australian Cricket. James Pattinson has taken 5 - 25 today to bowl Victoria to a win in a shield game. I have always rated him as a bowler and if he can only just stay fit, he could be a bolter for the ashes tour. Spare a thought though for Conway of NSW who had match figures of 9 - 64 in a losing cause!
Pretty much carnage for the batsmen in the current shield round with only the game in Tasmania having a decent wicket obviously. Cam Bancroft has not done a lot since his century against NSW and will need a big score in the last game at the WACA to stay in the frame for the UK
Sounds like Aust has unearthed a plethora of Duke ball bowling specialists…or Aust batsmen haven’t got an ounce of a technique…more the latter me thinks…but great to see Pattinson in the wickets…if fit definitely one Aust needs over in the UK…Starc, Hazlewood, Cummins, Richardson and Pattinson would be a fantastic attack…well at least on paper…….any chance a young untried smokey could be given a spot too?..Kelly perhaps from WA?
A big second session on the last day by Tassie batsmen Wade & McDermott has TAS in with a chance of winning outright now needing about 190 in the last session with 6 wickets still in hand.
WA need one more wicket , tassie still 68 runs behind , not sure how much time left..
Tassie now 51 behind with Tim Paine on 47..
tassie now all out WA win with Mitch Marsh taking the last two wickets.
Very hard work but they did it. Wade must surely be in the frame for a middle order position in the test team if Shield runs are the currency for selectors as they have stated
WA are now about 1 and a half points behind NSW on the ladder, so to make the final they need to beat Queensland outright at the WACA and hope that either Tasmania beats or draws with NSW in Hobart. We are in for an intriguing last round starting next Wednesday
well done to the team – two wins to go
After two days the WA v QLD game is evenly poised. The Warriors need at least another 100 to set a challenging target and the opportunity is there for Mitch Marsh and young Phillipe to do this with the support of the lower order. It will be tougher to bowl the Bulls out a second time as the pitch seems to have settled down a bit. What a debut to remember for Aaron Hardie with 4 -29. He will play a lot more for WA next season.
The pressure is now on NSW to try and get a result in their game in Tasmania as they may otherwise find themselves tipped out of the final by the winner of the game at the WACA.
How good is Aaron Hardie? Match figures of 7-60 and a handy 30 in the 2nd innings. We now have one foot in the final and all we need is Tasmania to hang on for a draw or rain to intervene in Hobart.
one more win lads – pending the result over East, of course
Alas, Tassie showed as much fight as a tranquilised elephant against NSW today.
All out for 120 to lose by 149 runs, with Matt Wade scoring 65 for a season tally of 1021 and average of 60.05.
Given the Dukes ball has been used for the second half of the Shield season, you’d suggest Wade has done enough to guarantee Ashes tour selection.
Marcus Harris topped the aggregates with 1024 runs at 68.26, so he should be a certain selection.
For the Warriors, losing outright twice to the Blues ultimately cost them a Shield berth.

Agree ADGM. Despite my Warriors bias I have to admit that the best two sides are in the final. My feeling is that the Vics would have been too strong for us anyway and will also beat NSW comfortably as well.
Something to build on next year for the Warriors though. Some real finds there in Hardie and Guthrie.
