Despite the loss of Andrew Ainger this season I do think we will have a good year in 2013. My mail is that several good recruits are in the pipeline and its a good chance our in’s will outweigh the out’s. Ron Fuller came to South with a five year plan and were now into year four. think we will see some good footy from South this season.
Do you have a pts system in SA or just a salary cap Ben?
We have the Salary Cap and also an Import Rule, limiting imports to four in any given year from interstate, the import stays that way for a three year period, then they are considered a local player.
I heard WWT recruited 2 South players earlier this week, whats the story there? Are they big losses or fringe players looking for a more regular game?
We lost two players, Ainger who was a good player for more money to the Woodville West Torrens FC and a lad Carey who was a good Reserves player at best, the club issued this statement on the Facebook Page,
“The South Adelaide Football Club advises that Andrew Ainger and Lachlan Carey will not be playing for the club next year.
Ainger and Carey hold differing views on the on-field direction of the football club. SAFC was not prepared to compromise on this or it’s salary cap in order to retain the players.”
Good riddance IMO, the SAFC has had problems in the past with people playing for us that do not want to play for the jumper of the club. Although I am not wrapt that Ainger has gone, I don’t see the the club had any other real option over it!
