Scoreboards

With all the talk of the hooplah at Basso the other day with the scoreboard made me think of the past when as I was a kid did the scoreboard at our local ground, and it was a dream to do the scoreboard at at WAFL ground, which I did (albeit for Sunday League finals at Lathlain)

So just having a search around the web found this blog with scoreboards from all around and some great little stories from the grounds. http://scoreboardpressure.com/the-a-to-z-list/

I got the gig helping my older brother do the scoreboard at Nungarin one year in the late 60’s or 1970. I was the envy of the whole primary school. I’m thinking that must have been my 15 minutes of fame…

Great topic and something different that is close to all our hearts. I like the old scoreboards which are still around at most of the grounds. Love the updates from other games and I am sure of interest to the spectators. I know at Joondalup they do a good job when they can to update even though not goal for goal but that is understandable. They obviously listen to the broadcast and update regulary. The Scoreboard attendants are the forgotten people and do a great job.
I have been at junior games where they dont have a scoreboard and find it a pain. Usually it means no one has volunteered to do it!
I am not happy with the Electronic scoreboards e.g Leederville as just not the same.

Pity you posted it here because the Tipping will keep it down the list. Maybe on the WAFL thread would of been better. Maybe Mike should of just had a Topic called Tipping comp. They did start a Tipping comp on an official site but can understand guys wanting to stick to OOS Tipping. Nothing wrong with that.

Even had a mate send me a pic on his mobile while their team was playing in the country.

By all means move the thread to a better topic area that will get the traffic Cardy.

Heres a scoreboard you may know (used for a different reason here - a funeral), where West Perth have a record of 1-0 IIRC

What a brilliant pic and a great idea when a legend passes on. Like it.

A great initiative that seems to have worked and why not..

Well done to Rockingham Rams for taking a gamble and playing Fev. Apparently cost them $20K but crowd was very good. Some reckon 3000…at $8, plus heaps of beer tents and food, I reckon they did very well out of it.

Yeh most probably cheaper grog than the Shark Pit.. :frowning: But hey mate will most probably get down there Sunday.. ABC Saturday - EF Sunday and then WP v EP Monday. Shit I will be WAFFLED OUT BY THEN..

Seeya on Sunday

If your lucky I might let you in on our round again and save you enough money to buy the most expensive beer in WAFL footy…Joondalup Arena. :stuck_out_tongue:
