Finally we got a few insights into what the grade may look like- I think we re look at this come Round 5.
Round 1 is here and my thoughts are below.
Bullcreek v Ballajura
The creek have lost a couple of their major ball winners to Brentwood. But have picked up some very handy additions. I feel they will not be as tall as previous years but will move the ball a little quicker.
Balla- same coach again and he has been around for donkeys years. They will be youngish and speedy and will try to exploit the new standing the mark rule I feel.
Tip- Creek at home by 3 goals and Hardingham to kick 8
Mt Lawley vs Whitfords
not much happening with either clubs by the looks of things but Whitfords have had a strong colts program for a number of years and you would expect some of those kids now taking the step up to league footy.
lawley new coach and that often takes a few games to get the chemistry right.
Tip- Whitfords by 2 goals
Bassendean vs Oridge
Was Basso’s results last year a reflection of a Covid season or are they capable of playing consistent B grade footy and higher?? New coach, some good recruits- very few losses from last years preliminary side.
Ridge- young, quick and coming off a C1 flag. They have nothing to lose here and would want a very strong start to build some confidence. I believe also a new coach?
Tip- Basso at home by 5 goals.
Kingsley v West Coast
Kingsley back down from A grade and should be there abouts after feeling the quality of A grade last year.
a couple of ins and outs- notably the loss of Del Borello- can they kick a winning score?
West Coast- missing out on a flag last year when they threw the toys out of the cot when promotion was not going to be on but couldn’t get the job done any way ??
Again not much to report but did see Alex Devitt with a clearance to a comp up north which could mean he is Fifo?
Tip- West Coast by 2 goals
Wanneroo vs Swan Athletic
two youngish sides one would suspect. Ath having 4 colts debut this weekend and will look for early confidence in the game- they played a good brand of footy last year but just couldn’t play it consistently throughout games.
Return of a couple of goal kickers for the club (Munt and Polich) could that be the difference for them?
Wanneroo no real big recruits announced but they have Healy at the helm after last years coach left. He is a quality coach who reads the game well and will hve his boys firing.
Tip- Wanneroo at home 10pts
Enjoy the conditions boys- hot and 30 degrees, fresh legs will be the key in the last half of games!
looking forward to banking my first tipping donut for the year ??
