1958 Sandover Medallist Ted “Square” Kilmurray passed away on January 10 at the age of 90. Ted played 257 games for East Perth and 3 for WA. He was also East Perth’s leading goalscorer four times, and played in three premierships.
After retiring from East Perth, he returned to the club where it all started for him, Kenwick, as captain coach. He also played for Maddington before going to the Royals.
Ted Kilmurray, along with his great mates from Sister Kate’s, “Polly” Farmer and Jack Hunt", was part of a golden era for East Perth after several years in the wilderness (mainly finishing fifth).
Rest In Peace, Ted, and sincere condolences to your family.
A truly great WA and Indigenous footballer. He was also a really great bloke. I met a number of times when we worked for the Dept of Supply. Always happy to talk and laugh.
He is a legend of our club and WA sport.
