Willie Roe was a good pick up from EP (via Darwin) Southy, an underrated player in the 80s.
John Begg, Geoff Gillies, John Hayes, Barrie Quick, Neil Randall, David Rawlinson, Paul Vasoli a few others.
In more recent times I thought Peter Kelly, Evan Hewitt & Ryan Webb were good pick ups.

Out of all of those guys - I could only say Dave Rawlinson , Barrie Quick & Paul Vasoli were not required at other clubs Beas’
All the rest were walkouts from other clubs
In Geoff Gillies case - he was returning to WA from Central Districts and didn’t go back to his original club
Frank Stockley came to Subi after missing selection in WP’s 2013 premiership team, another Ex WP boy Joel Latham who played 58 ressies games for Joondy never got a league opportunity, both played in Subi’s 2014 premiership team.
SS, Latham played a number of League games for WP but no chance of breaking into the back 6 as a regular.
Yeah I guess so Ted…but one could easily say all those ex Perth boys did reject the chance to play for Perth to play at EF in the search of premiership success…wouldn’t happen now days though…LOL
Thanks Leedy I didn’t know Joel played league for WP, how many did he actually play?
Latham didnt play any league at West Perth and made his debut with Subi in 2014 going on to be a premiership player at the end of that year.
Going back but Rod Brown (cant remember why he left SD but may have been cleaned out by Toddy in the late 70’s ) and Shane Cocker from East Perth both gave good service at Subi.
Lots of players already mentioned..Footscray -Gordon Casey+Stewie Magee who Captained coached Swans in 1976.Stand corrected but Stewie was the first Irishman to cross over from Gaelic Football.
Back in the days when Swans poached players off Subi..Mick John’s and Ken Marshall both good players for Swans..
Kevin Taylor to Swans from the Sharks..
Pretty sure Paul Vasoli finished his footy career at Swans, great player for SF.
Tony Solin playing reserves at SF.Was a fantastic player at Swans. Then finished at EF.

The one that comes to memory the most is Graeme Comoford.Reserves player at Swans .a Fantastic torpedo punt full back at WP.

Yeah Willie Roe
Went with an Uncle to an East Perth game at one point and saw a young very raw Willie Roe kick 3 or maybe 4 goals on debut can’t remember who they played
and he played some pretty good footy for East Perth too
always on the scorecard but then every so often he would just kick a bag
Marlion Pickett reminds me of Willie in a lot of ways just sublime skills and so quick

sorry for the third quote mate hahaha
The one player who had the biggest impact was Paul Vasoli by the length of the Great Northern Highway - what a good bloke he is
Right by Maurice’s left flank and usually sideways to TI for when it went over Maurie or Carter
Always remember that unbelievably creative raking handball and familiar loping run
integral to the 1980 premiership side without doubt
Great topic Grump. I can’t recall but I suspect Mick “Stinger” Rea was not getting a league game or as a regular so sought greener pastures at Perth. We had a great run with WP players who I suspect were on the outer for one reason or another, John Washfold, Ross Prunster and Joe Proctor.
Tony Pappoto from East Perth I wouldn’t call Watson a reject from Claremont, pretty sure he played in their 1981 premiership, as Ted mentioned Tropiano and Seebeck definitely fall under the reject category and go bang and win a Sandover the ultimate individual success, sadly it didn’t translate into team success.
A player we got from EF in the early 2000’s was very good, one of my favourites at the time Matt Kennewell I think was his name. A real bull and could hold down CHB or CHF.

Mark Washfold DD.
John Gavranich, Chris Stasinowsky (via SF) & Ray Holden were a few other handy players you blokes got from WP.
Yeh was gonna type Mark but for some reason thought no it’s John. Gavranich was a ripper. Not blessed with skill but a 100% er.
Leedy, I got the info off an article about Joel on the Subi website when he hung up his boots, good solid player but persistent injuries the last few years took their toll.
No big deal, like many players before, he went looking for more opportunities and landed in the right place.
shane cocker was not a regular at EP
Betts at CL
V Melville at S
Hamilton at S, feared for his spot at EP
Alexander at EF, unwanted by Dorrington
Loxley at EP before retirring to the Sunday League
Mick Ray at EP
What of Miller and Cable, did Perth reject them?
