Rd 4 v's Subiaco

A huge match this one and wouldbe the game of the day. Weather for the footy around the grounds is looking fine and a 20⁰ maximum temp.

Yes shaping as a great contest. So far WP’s form has not been what they would expect. maybe a bit of a hangover. We have seen that in the AFL with Geelong, who have moved past that and are now up there with the Saints and Pies as the form team. I expect WP to shake off that hangover, but hopefully not this week. Subi found some 4 qtr form and real intensity to beat CL in a very physical contest. WP are a much more mature, physically stronger team, so it shapes as a very intense contest. WP have a very experience mids unit and the best forward in the comp, so a massive challenge for a what is now a much younger less experienced Subi team.

SS it should be an intriguing contest with both teams having genuine claims for victory. Both sides have very good forward options, solid defences(although ours is a bit short) and hard working mid fields.I think it will be a case of the correct matchups and which team has the greater desire.Subi were very physical against CL and if they bring that on Saturday it will be a big step towards winning.Concerned on who is going to play on Hansen Jnr as he is very speedy(maybe Johnson) and I wouldn’t mind betting Nelson will be tagged(possibly Morgan?).In any event should be a really close and enjoyable game.

Do Subiaco have someone who can limit Keitel ?

In a word…no. Before it would be Jordan Lockyer but now Henry Berenger will probably get the task. They’ll need to make it a team exercise to have a spare coming over the top and put pressure on the Joondy mids so they don’t give the chinless one an arm chair ride.

So what do you reckon BC - will you guys tag Nelson this week?

Yes…I think it’s highly likely TF. You lot have quite a few quality mids but you can’t tag everyone so you put your best tagger on the player likely to have the most impact and for me that’s Nelson.

BC I think where you guys will have the biggest advantage this week will be in clearances. Our numbers are well down in that area this year and with Clarke rucking for you that will be our biggest challenge. It might even be harder if Giro comes back.Do you know if he will be available BC?

He has an ankle injury TF so not sure although he looked to be moving ok at the footy last weekend. He’s not on crutches or anything so he could be a chance.

Thanks for that BC.

Is Conal Lynch fit to play this week Winger?

One particular thing I like about us is we never quit, we are not the best side on paper but I can go to the footy knowing the players give everything week in week out.

There are 2 big outs for WP, may swing things to $ubi’s favour.

We have been pretty lucky with injuries the last 2 years and this had lead to a pretty settled team.A few injuries have crept in now especially to key players but it is what it is.The one thing we do have is a good system and the “next in” player knows his role - it just depends on how the execution goes.As Whinnen said "we never quit"and that’s the thing we always take into a game and this is no exception.I think Subi should start favourites but they will know they have been in a game.

That’s all you want from your team Whinnen, win, lose or draw

I think this match is being covered by Sport FM if I heard correctly? No doubt someone will say if incorrect. Their commentary team always do a top job.

$ubi too good for us on the day, we missed some sitters which could have made things interesting but didn’t deserve to win. Wilhelm god love him made some crucial blunders and Langdon needs a run in the Dags along with Hobley. We need a CHF to replace Hamp, would like to see Foley, Bevan and Damarte come into the side. We have Black, Kernutt, Knotty, Hutchy, Thompson and Hammo to come in over the coming weeks.

Whinnen, both teams had trouble converting, in pretty good conditions, but a bit windy. Subi’s was a 4 qtr effort, kicked 5 in the 2 qtrs against the wind to WP’s zip. Pressure on your mids made it very hard for Keitel to get any decent delivery, plus Dewar wore him like a glove and then ran hard off him.

Spot on, our forward pressure to lock it in has taken a hit without Knotty and Kurnett and we need another strong marking CHF, Foley is worth a crack.

Agree about Knott, he is one if not the premier small forward in the comp, kicks goals and has a good defensive side as well.
