Well the current people running the club have officially jumped the shark. The game vs Peel will be a pride day celebrating all that is LBGTQIA…rainbow flags everywhere.
Cant wait to see the black and white stripes butchered with rainbow colours.
Why does the WAFL feel the need to follow the AFL with a virtous BS signal?
Is it pressure from the local member? Pressure from the WAFLW league sponsor? Pressure from the 80% of womens players? Pressure from staff?
The club accepts all types as it is already.
The club is a welcoming club for all already and has been for a long time.
Why not just play footy?
Can we just go back to trying to win games please regardless of where you come from, what religion you are or who you want to sleep with or identify as?
I wont be going…booooooooo
If Swans are such a welcoming club and you are all good with that, should it be an issue? I think clubs are just trying to have relevance in the community and survive. I would support that. Good for you Swans
They don’t need to be told do they? They can jam their rainbow day up their date.
Isn’t the point that football clubs are actually not safe spaces for LBGTI people?. For example, how else do you explain the fact that not one male footballer in the AFL has come out as gay when we know in the community that 10% of people are same sex attracted? Anything a club can do to make people feel more included would have to be a good thing surely?

Hahaha…that’s appropriate for rainbow day.

Sorry Mike…but why do gay footballers have to come out at all? Who cares and what difference will it make? At day’s end it’s their business and should remain so in my opinion and I’m also not sure of the validity of your 10% statistic play footy extrapolation. Gay people might not have a predisposition to play contact sports meaning it could be way less than that. I think there’s a bit of feel good, virtue signalling going on by a vocal minority but hey, if it makes them feel better then go for it as it doesn’t impact on me.

Yep telling them to jam it up your date doesn’t have quite the same impact does it? They just say yes please. Anyway I just hate that they want to hijack everything for their selfish own want of attention. The more this stuff is dare I say it, shoved in my face, the more I despise them.
amazing in it? When I have been to the football I have never thought about whether I was ‘welcome’ or not.
…Because the Wafl clubs are basically irrelevant nowadays, they need to get involved in these activities. I suppose it gives them a little bit more exposure I guess.
Am I safe to travel up there this weekend? Will it be the normal basso?
Rainbow day is on the 26th August v Peel, not this Saturday.
I expect you to post photos of the big day on here Mike dressed in your pink tutu.
