Southerner 1980 lol.
Recently watched the 1980 SOO at Waverëy Park.Wa took a 4 goal lead into ht.The Vics ran us over in the last qtr.In wet slippery conditions.
Maurice Rioli ripped Victoria apart in the first half.Lets not even mention his GF performance in 80
[quote=“Southerner post=237577 userid=1210”]and a preliminary in 1980
Swans also played East Perth in the 2010 Preliminary Final. Tony Notte had played 58 league games and Michael Walters was in the Swans team.

mmmmm yes mate
Malcolm had South Fremantle primed up enough to smash through the Berlin wall it would not have mattered who they played that day it was going to be an anhiliation for some unfortunate sod
that second quarter goal is still to this day the best I have ever seen and I’ve never seen anyone skip sideways like that in one motion and then bounce away and put it over the goal umpires head
my apologies 'Bease got a bit off track there

ah yes mate I thought there might have been another one there somewhere
The WAFL needs a Swans v EP grand final. Let’s hope we get it.
35,000 minimum crowd I would think, if the weather is good.
Greet win by the boys in Black n White…sets up one half of Cesspit’s wish atleast
Good to see Peelmantle beaten by Swans
The WAFC will be hoping for a GF with any combination of EP, SD or EF to get the best gate

All good mate.
Who doesnt love reading about those halcyon days of the WAFL that we were all lucky enough to witness growing up!
BH why where talking Swans,in general.
Darcy Jones at GWS and Humphrey’s at Geelong. Both great debut Afl seasons.
Heard that Humphrey’s was recruited from Swans reserves side.
Great victory by the Swans boys particularly given their poor recent record at Mandurah. Their 2nd quarter when they kept Peel goalless was the game breaker for them. The only downside was the injury to Turner which will have Swans supporters sweating on the scans he will presumably have tomorrow. He would be a big loss if he can’t play against East Perth

Thats yet another Victorian media furphy mate.
Lawson would have been one of the first picked in our League side in the second half of last year such was his impression on our team but he did qualify for the Ressies finals due to playing the first 5 or 6 games in the development side!
Well done Sdfc…good to see Peel go down, not what I was expecting but a great result for the comp.
If Tigers can replicate what they did v EF and Peel don’t lift then let’s hope it’s a straight sets exit.
Big game at Leederville. Doors open for SD GF …
Great coaching effort and team display, there wasn’t one passenger out there on Saturday.
Turner definitely won’t play this weekend and with 2 chances to get in it’d be silly to do so. Have heard it was a medial, and that would be best case, which if high grade is usually 6 weeks, lower grade you can generally get back in 2-3.
The other concerns were the Clarke report where hopefully he gets a fine for a reprimand and I thought Hewitt may have played through some discomfort in the second half.
You would assume Hilton comes back into the side with an adjustment to the back 6 so that we can find an alternative winger. Maybe Watson can fill the void but there is Cartwright and Chipper(not for me) in the wings. A Smokey I’d like to see considered is Ehlers, he’s a kid I really rated and expected to play a lot more senior footy this year and he could easily slot in down back if Watson was to play higher.
Erceg seems out of contention for mine at this stage. He’s missed far too much footy this season and has a chronic back issue.
A win this week would obviously be huge in order to get that week off and give Edwards and Turner another week of recovery but it’s a mammoth task against a well rested East Perth.
Bit more than just a fine for clarke Danger - 3 weeks
It was actually a 4 week penalty reduced to 3 on early plea. When was the last time the tribunal handed out a 4 week penalty? You would assume that Clarke must have king hit Grey, yet the Peel player didnt appear to be impacted and played out the game. This makes absolutely no sense and I hope the club can get some footage of the incident as the penalty seems to be far out of proportion to the outcome.
Edwards knocked out the week before and the Perth bloke got 2 weeks, makes no sense
So no Clarke, no Turner and no Edwards fronting up to East Perth on their home ground. The task has become so much harder. Time for Hewitt, Cartwright and Chipper to step into the breech and make a name for themselves
Spot on MO.
Edwards missed 2.5 games as he was knocked out before half time vs Perth (would have been 3.5 if the Preliminary Final was a Saturday) and the player responsible gets 2 weeks and yet Grey who took a dive Greg Louganis would have been proud of, played the game out with no repercussions and yet Clarke gets 4 down to 3…Grey who started the rot knocking Clarke down after disposing of the footy gets not even a free kick against him!
The WAFC are an utter joke!
WAFC would have been spewing SD knocked over their little sprog on their own shitheap
and they’ve just evened things out
