QF vs Claremont

You blokes are very quiet this news won’t help. North and Tedesco out. But the others who were rested last week are predictably in.

Indeed, rnb, Tom North and Liam Tedesco are big, big losses and I can only assume they incurred “niggly” injuries against Claremont last week and are being “saved” for next week, against whomever the Royals will be playing.
Good luck to the Demons on Sunday.

Archie, I know East Perth have fallen away somewhat in the last few games BUT don’t write them off tomorrow. All the pundits reckon this will be a cakewalk for Claremont, I smell an ambush. Don’t forget your coach is a very wily fellow and your players will be driven by the disappointment of last year. I recall 12 months ago Swans went down to Mandurah and no one gave them a hope of a victory against Peel in a qualifying final and they came away with a famous win

Archie, is that a real touch of fondness for the DEES or a dislike of your chances against EF? lol

mikeh and Demons_Forever, when I mentioned “whomever the Royals will be playing”, I certainly hadn’t ruled out East Perth making the trip to Fremantle Oval next weekend.
I thought a very undermanned line-up showed a fair bit against Claremont last week, although I’m sure the Tigers were also experimenting with aspects of their game.
That said, I reckon tomorrow’s game will be much closer than many are tipping and I’m sure Ross McQueen has a few tricks up his sleeve, having coached some of the Tigers’ players in the colts and the reserves.
The only downside is the absence of Tom North and Liam Tedesco, while a couple of other non-selections puzzle me.
D_F, I’m probably like a lot of footy fans who wish the Demons all the very best in the finals, EXCEPT if they play the Royals.

I would love to win tomorrow and have to play Claremont the following.
They arrogant enough to take us as a given, and we have some scores to settle.
IMHO.

Looking good Royals.

Jones a far better than the Claremont ruck

Great result for the Royals
Bigger mountain to climb next week,South’s.

Well done Royals. Claremont look there for the taking for the winner of tomorrow’s game.

Don’t write them off. Remember Peel lost the qualifying final last year and were within 30 seconds of losing the first semi but they came back and won the flag. Still a lot to play out yet

Hunter looked like he’ll be under concussion protocols, the Claremont player he collided with could be too Elliott I think and Eastland was hobbling at half time.

They’ve got the luxury of calling on 206cm Kalin Lane to backup or replace Eastland and a plethora of depth in the reserves.

I really hope I’m wrong R and B because I want to see Perth do well in the finals. I just have a funny feeling that the Royals and the Tigers will slug it out again at Leederville in 2 weeks. I think that Claremont have the winner of tomorrows game covered. I do hope I’m incorrect though

I’m no so sure Mike I think supporters of both EF and Perth will fancy our chances against Claremont funny or foolish as that might seem.

EF are banking on having Lachlan Blakiston available after this weekend and I’m feeling quite bullish. Perhaps I won’t be by this time tomorrow but we’ll see. If you don’t feel hope what is the point?

I appreciate your good wishes should be quite a few Swannies boys there tomorrow watching your reserves so hopefully you’ll hang around and support your eastern suburbs brothers.

Your ambush sense of smell worked a treat today, mikeh.
Apart from late in the first quarter when Claremont drew level, East Perth led all day and were able to kick a steadying goal when the home side threatened.
The Tigers had their chances to establish a handy lead in the second quarter but were thankfully off target, kicking 1.6 for the quarter,
It was a pretty physical contest, but I think the Royals were just that little bit more ferocious than the Tigers.
The same, or an even greater level of commitment will be required against odds-on flag favourite South Fremantle next weekend, but in recent years, I think the Royals have played better against the Bulldogs at the port than they have at Leederville.

The royals kicking game worked well. They are never out of position. To beat them you have to create turnovers when the pass the footy.

Can someone explain to me why the shit times does not have Scott Jones as the best player, Brayshaw et al all played really well but surely Jones was the dominate player on the ground! Also how well did the reserves play to beat a gallant Perth, Brookes, Donnelly, and Lindberg with others all bode well for our Future!

Hamish Brayshaw 31 posessions and a goal, Scott Jones 10 possessions 37 hit outs vs Eastland 15 posessions 35 hit outs. And I saw Eastland hobbling badly coming off the ground at half time.

Not sure what you are complaining about there Grump just be happy with a great victory against the odds. Thanks for softening Claremont up I reckon they are ripe for the picking for whoever wins today.

I’ll be barracking for today’s winner next week vs Claremont regardless who that is.

Grump hates anyone that didn’t play Colts at EP in case you didn’t know. His agenda has never changed, whilst it does cause angst in the playing group most people just ignore it. I thought Jones was amazing and beat Eastland regardless of stats, his presence was felt. Ameduri in the middle stiffened us up and we didn’t drop off after half time. Claremont wasted their opportunities in the second quarter. In reality we should have kicked another half a dozen but the forward line had an off day with their skill level. Except Burgiel and Hille who kicked two class goals from limited touches.

I wasn’t particularly confident yesterday, and all the signs were pointing to us being over run in the second half, but Jonesy took control in the second half, and the more he is involved at contests which enables us to control territory, the greater our chances of winning.
