PFL Recruits & Retirements

Similar to what Zac Clarke has done for the last 2 years, he has shopped himself around PFL and country leagues for $1000 a game but for a 7 game season. At least 9 A grade teams weren’t interested.

Interesting if true, but then why did he play 13 H&A games and 1 Final for Pinjarra in 2024?

And then 6 H&A games for North Beach and 4 Finals…

Seems strange if he had a 7 game contract that he didn’t play 7 games at either club?

Where’s he playing this season?

Did Clarke do a Sportmans night after each game at North Beach too :joy:

Probably not the best comparison to Swan or Fevola who only play 1 game per club for as many clubs possible before the June 30 transfer window shuts.

George Hampson at CBC and a few different country clubs in the same season is a better comparison if you do your research Professor. Though nobody is paying to listen to George.

Surely we don’t care about Swanny running around in D or E grade? He’s the wrong side of 40 and well past it and playing D Grade.

In the scheme of things, there are bigger things to sort out with players being paid every single week than Swanny or Fev.

FAIR CALL,
But unless called our…when is ‘that’ gonna start??

Agree but if the PFL can’t/won’t stop a player who is openly being paid to play a game, regardless of which grade it is, then what are they ever going to do about ‘alleged’ paid players in A to C League comps?

Kingsway have been busy

Reading today significant signings at Kingsway with a trio of Subi players.

Is it true (or just rumours and scuttlebutt)?

  1. That nth beach 2025 women’s coach, now at Kingsway with a portion of the nth beach team?
  2. Osborne park in some sort of arrangement have transferred resources and players to Kingsway

The majority of players from Osborne Park who have come to Kingsway are actually former Kingsway players coming back to the club. A number of them went to Osborne Park initially when Kingsley Hunter (former Kingsway Coach) was appointed coach of Osborne Park a few years ago. Also, most of the Subiaco players who have come to Kingsway are actually former Juniors who went to Subi and have now returned to play with their original club.

Thanks Sneaky, that helps in understanding the movements. Still the club has done well over the summer.

If thats the case,

cant wait to see massive improvements from ressies and colts!

Sneaky, I think you will find that Eaton and Braut aren’t Kingsway juniors but have gone there for good money just like the Bassendean boys a couple of years ago.

Well Professor I’m sure the ex AFL player that the reigning A grade premiers just picked up is doing it for the love of the game and no questions asked from the PFL

Who have NB picked up?

Sneaky, as long as it not another Subi player. The points will make it interesting for NB, More grumbles from league players that will have to play ressies to make way for a new recruit.

North beach always will be the nepo baby of the PFL.

@sneaky_101 By just picked up, do you mean ex-AFL ex-Subi premiership player that has been training with NB since early January? Also a local junior? Only 3 points, possibly 1?

Or have NB picked up a 4th ex-AFL player in the last couple of weeks?

@The_Professor what makes you think points will be an issue for North Beach, looking at their GF side they’ll have at least 8 points available, without any injuries, players moving on or retiring.

Interesting to see Jye Bolton played in Victoria last weekend for Drysdale, and this week transferred to Uni. Two different clubs in two states in 2 weeks - is he the PFLs Dane Swan?

TT- pretty sure he will be a 5 pointer based on the criteria regardless of where he played his Junior footy - but time will tell. Points were an issue in the GF last year given that Fullgrabe & Scurria couldn’t be squeezed in (Scurria having played every game including all of the finals) so unless NB have lost several 3 - 5 point players from last year, it looks like it will be an issue again this year (a good one to have i suppose especially given the Ressies will have some quality running around based on the points set up) As for Bolton, i think it was to go back and play a game with his junior club as a once off before coming back to Uni for the year - something he wasn’t able to do when involved at WAFL level.

if he was AFL the chances of playing their first senior game at a PFL club is slim. only way to get 1 point was when he was colts he played at NB, they had a point put against him and they can then claim him when he returns. Only one I know in recent times was Reid, or Read, however you spell it.

that will make him 5 if he has played 5 WAFL in one of the last 3 years. 3 if no WAFL in 3 years.

Thanks Viper

Pretty sure he’ll be a 3 pointer then, hasn’t played State League since 2021

Has he played any footy since 21?

If he has not played 5 senior games in a year he will be a 1 pointer.
