Well done EF. Thoroughly deserved that win today with the intensity of effort you brought to the contest. Killed us for speed all day. Played brave footy all day and I hope you go on with it over the next few weeks.
As for my mob, lame, tame and fkn disconnected from midfield to forward line all day long. We absolutely surrendered the corridor to EF who owned it all day.
All our goals came from leading marks yet we persisted with bombing it in the fkn air going forward. Out coached, out done on effort, out done on skills. How the fk do we come back from this???
Cary and Stubbs looked dangerous at times. McInnes was excellent early. Grey got shut down by Davies. You’ll get better- best you brought those guys in because if you didn’t you would’ve been pumped. Busher struggled on Marsh as well.
Grey looks to have needed the run. Sinclair although good today lacked his usual timing. Bush not the star he has been since returning - fair enough. Langlands and Rogers to improve. Will probably beat South next week

I thought Cary was going to be the one to take the game away from us, but he was battling on his own at times. I also thought McInnes was probably among your very best till fatigue set in.was very happy we were able to stem every challenge you threw at us.

Sadly, not what we wished for, but what many feared. My real concern is if this lot can’t deliver in the next couple of years (and I have some sympathy for those returning after long absences this week). then the future doesn’t look too promising. And life’s getting a bit short.
Clearly too many players were underdone and lacking their usual run and spark. Gibba and Taylor are desperately required down back.
Rogers has to be axed his output is way down on what is expected. McPartland only managed 10 possessions today in the reserves so I’m guessing he got injured. Quill got 37 posessions so he’s put his hand up and Yeo has to come under consideration.
How quickly hope turns to despair. I still think we had to do it given the importance of the game, but clearly a number of the guys who came back were underdone. Worst game I’ve seen Busher play at any club. Likewise Grey. Masten got a bit of the footy, but his disposal was dreadful. After coughing it up at least three times in the first quarter, he seemed to panic and just started banging it on the boot or firing out handballs that put the receiver under pressure. Langlands did a couple of classy things but didn’t get enough of it and made one bad mistake that cost a goal. Sinclair and McInnes not bad, though McInnes didn’t take any marks in dangerous areas. Rogers - too old, too slow, been a good WAFL player over a long time, but time’s up. He didn’t even have the excuse of being underdone.
Positives… hopefully those players will be better for the run, but it’s almost certainly too little, too late from here. 9 games to go and with out terrible %, we are effectively 2 games out of the 5. A few players were ok: Byrne, Clarke, Colledge, Nicholas. I thought Avery did a decent job and is clearly a player of the future. I’ll put some more thoughts up on a new thread. Yes, I’m afraid so - the “Planning for 2022” thread. At least it’s coming up at the half way mark this year - usually we know after about 3 games that our season is gone. For 2021, yes injuries have been bad, but our home losses to SD, PT and now EF are inexcusable. We fielded decent teams in those games, and PT and EF were undermanned.
It’s funny how you can tell early on in a game whether your team is on or not. Well it took only 90 seconds to know we were not switched on when Kommer lining up for goal on the 50 saw Strnadica standing waiving his arms in the air 25m out and no one within 25 metres of him.
EF has 3 on the board before our blokes woke up and that was the game right there.
Other teams will have worked out how to beta Perth and it’s not rocket science. Run. Spread hard, play on, overlap handball and we won’t or can’t keep up. We’d better hope for a wet winter from this point on to nullify that. Goalkicking is once again a serious problem. Our highest tally since round 1 has been 12. That won’t win many games. Only 4 goal kickers yesterday. None from McInnes, Rogers, no-one from the midfield pushing forward.
Changes next week - does it matter? I didn’t see the reserves game. Quill’s numbers are impressive but were his disposals meaningful? Only 3 inside 50s from 37 touches. Still, reward form, so maybe Clark out, Quill in. Maybe Rogers out, Richardson or Hitchcock in. Hitchcock has 20 touches, 6 marks, 2 goals. But he strikes me as one of those players who can never quite make the step up to league. Gibba may come back, at the expense of Sing or Steel.
Jack Steel was one of the best players on the ground in the first qtr, possibly our best. Faded out a bit but shows a lot of potential. His last qtr mark and goal was clutch and brought us to within 10 points. If Burner kicks that goal on the run which he should have who knows what happens from there?
Sing was disappointing, hopefully Taylor and or Gibba are ready to come back in. Surely Corey Yeo has enough match fitness now after 4 reserves games.
Overall a pretty typical display for the PFC
On the positive side Steel and Avery both look promising.
Sing wasn’t great but he’s only played a handful of games and certainly the last few haven’t been easy for an inexperienced player.
Masten’s disposal was very average, putting it politely. Our players are also giving him the ball when on a number of occasions they should have taken responsibility for disposal. Being an experienced player he probably demands the ball quite often when he shouldn’t! Brady Grey has a read hot go but his disposal is on a par with Masten
Yesterday we had 11 players who had 10 or less possessions for their afternoons work, just leaves to much work for the others. Our lack of pace was clearly evident against Swans and we don’t appear to have much in the cupboard to rectify.

We will win very easily. As for where the next gen is coming from they are playing for other clubs unfortunately because of the district the WAFC give us, their failure to address it in 2009 and their failure to give us additional resources as promised in 2009. [/b]If they help us this time around the generation of players after the next one may come more from our zone. Oh and strongbow, if this is our best team im 30 years, which side did it trump? Which side is now the second best having been displaced by this one? Round 16 2007? Round 18 1997? I’d be interested in your view.

Surely all those Perth ins, especially the ones who had been out for a good while, will be better for the run…add in ex EF boys in Yeo and Quill, and Perth could do the double over SF…actually hope Perth do beat SF, sounds like SF are treading water a bit…kissed on the John Thomas by the umps in their win over EF and knocked over by EP the following game, SF aren’t flying as they were in 2020…Perth look far better on paper then either EF and EP do…so I reckon SF are definitely there for the taking…and Perth definitely match up better then most v SF too.

Well that is a positive for sure that they only have South away next weekend. I wonder if STT will give us a prediction of the outcome - surely the Demons win easy right?.
[quote=“Tiger of old post=207984 userid=1372”]Masten, poor disposal? Strange..

That’s what happens when you are not 100% fit. Masto was carrying an injury during pre season I think. Has never really hit his straps this year but credit needs to be paid to the opposition. They came to play and put our blokes under pressure all day. Masto wasn’t the only culprit. That was probably EF’s best performance for the season. Not sure EF supporters would agree. They would know better than me.
