Perth Glory take-over deal

[quote=“DD post=229726 userid=1749”]Could be back to the future with original Perth Glory owner and barbecue chook king Nick Tana showing interest. Apparently has been busy kicking a few goals of his own since and has become WA’s biggest horticulturist through the Sumich Group. Got plenty of coin. He’s looking for other local stakeholders to join him and spread the load the report says.

Does sound like the european buyer must have jumped off the ship?

Looking at the website, the statement dated 3 days ago where it says, [quote= A resolution has been reached for the transition of Perth Glory Football Club’s licence to new owners.end quote]
The article continues with some blah blah blah and then says [quote= An exciting new chapter has begun and we look forward to rewarding our incredibly loyal Members, fans and sponsors for their unwavering and passionate support of their club.end quote]
Apparently moving back to Perth Oval sometime this year after the redevelopment.

DD it would be up there for sure, and very limited media interest and coverage now.

It’s been reported Glory’s receivers have had 12 expressions of interest in the club. And now are working on a sale before the 23/ 24 season gets underway in the third week of October.

I guess they need to take their time and make sure they are making the best decision for the long term but it must be hurting their recruiting efforts. They are going to start the season way behind the 8 ball but on the plus side they have appointed a new coach with a pretty good resume so hopefully he’s already been in talks with a few players.

I would like to see former Perth Glory owner Nick Tana involved.

Apparently a construction company called Pelligra are in the front running for Perth Glory. Not heard of the company previously.

Just been announced a property developer out of Melbourne is now the owner of Perth Glory. The paperwork only needs finalizing which should a week according to the report.

Pelligra missed out though they have had history with the winning bidder Melbourne based property developer Primeland. They might be staying at some nice hotels when playing in Melbourne at least. Fuck me that’s two of our national sporting teams now owned by Victorians. Lol

Let’s hope they are more successful than the owners of the Wildcats.

Glory takeover has collapsed before it reached first base. Didn’t meet the terms of the first hurdle whatever that was, maybe demonstrating they have the funds or perhaps it was failing to make a down payment.

Looks like it’s going to fall back to the other Melbourne based bid who already have club ownership experience in Italy or the consortium of locals led by Glory’s original owner Nick Tana. That’s the one I lean towards. Locals are invested in a passionate level similar to Tony Sage. You couldn’t question Tony Sage’s commitment and passion. Nick Tana has experience.

Onfield they look hand tied at the moment. I watched the second half of a game between top teams Melbourne City and MacArthur who’ve only been in the league 3 or 4 years and Glory look a class below those teams. They played a 3 - 3 draw.

Yes it seems odd the sale should collapse at this late stage. Apparently key elements of the deal were not met, and Korda mentha will remain in charge for the time being. Talks are being conducted with other interested parties.

No news is bad news here. I reckon potential buyers are looking at the poor crowds and thinking how the fuck are we going to turn a profit? I reckon the A league is in crisis. Paramount+ is a big minus compared to Foxtel and Kayo.

Won’t surprise me if prospective buyers have pulled their bids. We might have to go down the sports washing route and let the Arabs take over if we want to compete with the 3 blue clubs. We don’t seem to be able to attract the big names of high international quality and when we do struggle to hold on to them.

Even WA born players who return don’t stay long. Will struggle to keep Adam Taggart beyond this season.

Ugly situation has been revealed where the family of former Glory player Andy Keogh pumped 1.5 million into Glory for a minor share in support of Tony Sage who months later handed in his license and the Keogh’s want their money back but it’s tied up in this mess.

Sad to see.

Sadly the current situation is now messy. Apparently sages company and the receiver need to provide documents after the court ordered a subpoenah which needs to be complied with in four weeks time. Former player Keogh, trying to do the right thing ends up with burnt fingers. Currently trying to get his money back. Apparently Sages company up to 39 million $ in debt. This saga could drag on until mid twenty 24. Not a good look for any potential buyers.

And now the ato is claiming Sage has been naughty with tax avoidance issues.

Just heard the news that Ross is the boss. Pelligra is a Perth family business in property development and been announced as the new owners. They also own several other sport clubs in Australia and several overseas.

Melbourne based and a Melbourne boy growing up WAG. Anyway he is in the business of owning sporting teams as well as property so clearly has the passion for a few sports and must know the caper. Lets hope he brings the passion and can attract the best talent west to bridge the gap that’s clearly been there between us and the rest for the last few years.

Would be great to see the stands and the shed full again. Need another maestro like Diego Castro, what a crowd pleaser he was.
