P v WP - Taylor's 150th

I would hope to see a good crowd on Saturday for Matt Taylor’s 150th. He has been a loyal and consistent player. We need the win, not just for Tayls, but more broadly. One third of the way through the season, it appears clear that C and SF are a class above and will finish top 2. Four teams - WCER, WP, EF and SD - are unlikely to challenge for finals. That said, SD are putting in a competitive effort and EF will improve when they get players back. There are then 4 teams competing for the remaining three spots in the 5. Judging by the games against EP and PT, we are evenly matched against those teams. That means we cannot afford to lose games we are expected to win, and the game v WP is squarely in that category. In fact, we really have to win the two after that as well, against SD and S, because after that we play C, SF and EP.

Despite underwhelming performances from too many players, it is difficult to see what changes might be made. Gray, Cameron and Brayshaw did well in the reserves. If they are not picked this week, guys like Moore, Watson, Clark, Gardiner and Cachard need to know their spot is under pressure. Schlensog has been pushed back to round 10 and Kirk is TBC.

Let’s hit the scoreboard - 100 plus - and get it done for Tayls.

Wishing Tail’s the best for his 150th.

Hopefully Dees Supporters can come down to Lathlain on a beaut Perth Day.

Bring your Tablets or Smart Phones to watch Pendles and Tails celebrate their Milestones at the same time.

As for the Game, love to see us play more Attacking Footy, which we can do,where hopefully a few spearheads are in the Forward Line, rather than downfield,…

Apologies for my technical blunder - I inadvertently posted this in “general.” Can someone a bit more tech savvy more this post to the Perth thread?

See if you can edit near the Title.

The category box should drop down and show WAFL,Perth.

Hopefully,…

Done deal

Cheers, Southerner, thanks for that.

Champion of the club. Would be so good if he can get a premiership before he retires. Only the third 150 game player this century. Michael Sinclair, Matt Taylor.

This site wouldn’t let me type in our other player WD.

And nearly all of Willie’s games were in the 80’s and 90’s.

TFAF, I posted something about the need to snag a couple of games against teams around us on the ladder. Originally I used a word which rhymed with “batch” rather than snag, but the post got blocked. Obviously the algorithms don’t understand context.. Anyway, I’m sure it’s all for our own good.

Barring injury, Corey Byrne will play his 150thon August 8, a home game v Peel.

I don’t want to sound like a prophet of doom but if we lose this game then we will struggle to make the finals. If we do lose I can see Peel and Subiaco replacing us and EF in the top 5 at seasons end. We are definitely missing Schlensog big time, and quite a few of the younger lesser lights do not seem to be able to play consistent football. I know it was a hard game against Claremont but I think some changes will be made this week.

4 Quarters focusing on what WE DO,NOT the Opposition.

We should know anyway,West Perth are a Desperate Team trying to Win sometime soon!

But WE should be a Desperate Team too, with our Incentive being on Increasing OUR WIN Tally, week by week!

Whilst our attack on the Ball and on their bsll carriers should be 100%,let’s also focus on Basic Kicking for Goals, with NO checkside kicks on the Run,allowing for prevailing winds and taking Set Shotsxwithin reasonable distance, with the wind at our backs!

Hopefully we keep Keitel quiet, but are wary of anyone else stepping up,including out of form veterans like Knott, who are Well overdue for a Bag.

Good Luck Dees!

Get out there and WIN

In ALL 5 Games!

Colts play Friday Night at Home,6.30PM.

They’ve done it tough with 2 Heavy Losses to 2 Top Guns, the past 2 games,so they would appreciate any support they can get.

Check with Club re Admission,Friday Night into Saturday.

There might not be anyone at the Gate, but I hope The Club is counting everyone there and adding them to Saturday’s Figure.

Glass-McCasker is an out. I’m not surprised given how poor his numbers have been. We have been top heavy and slow in a few games. Plus, Keitel aside, WP don’t have much in the way of talls - I am wholly unconcerned about Livingstone. Cooper Moore also out. Again, no surprise. He hasn’t shown any improvement from last season. Brayshaw is not named in league or reserves, but not on the injury list. Hope everything is ok, he did well in his two reserves games. Cameron comes in.

I agree with Cesspit that this is something of a danger game and WP always play well at Lathlain. Both teams are similar, in the sense that they both have a strong group of top players - WP have Keitel, Knott, Bevan, Nelson, Meadows, West, Black - but fall away after that. We should have the edge in class, but out tail is too long. The fact that we have about 6 players each week not really contributing has been the main reason for our faltering start. Scarred by years of failure, it doesn’t take much for confidence to fade.

If we have a Functioning Forward Line Stationed in the Forward Line ALL DAY,we should WIN!

Hope the Coach’s Consultant from last year has been chatting about that over a good Steak at Gino’s!

Good % boosting win. Pretty much confirms where we are at: we are better than the bottom 4, but can we match it with the best.

I know the West is and long has been an appalling rag, but no write up of the game and no mention of Taylor’s 150th? Too busy bringing in a panel of experts to analyse what Harley Reid had for breakfast, I guess.

Brilliant win. I for one am very grateful for all games being streamed live. I never thought that would happen just a few years ago. And now that the replays are posted quite quickly, I am also really impressed. Thank you, Seven. Having been to the game today, I started watching the replay tonight. But OMG seriously? 3 to 3 1/2 minutes of ads between goals? Sheeshh! And an even bigger OMG - number 15 for Perth is Baxter PHILIP…..not Philip BAXTER. Crikey, commentators. Do your research. Please.

3/4’s way through the third quarter on the replay and what I am noticing is that all of our lesser lights had a good day. Watson, Cachard, Tilbee, Gardiner, Hine Baston and Philip, with Seth Clark, Cameron and Harding doing ok too.

Confirmed Kirk out for the year (stress fracture in the back) - staying in Perth and in good spirits after the game along with Brayshaw who as I think Ted said not named in the Ressies or listed on our injury list.

Schlenna there again and looks motivated.

Glass McCasker enjoyed rucking for the Ressies and by the looks of it is no sook.

Big numbers by Cooper Moore in the Ressies too.

All players looked switched on from the start of the game.

For mine this was a welcome return to form for Parfitt as other than round one he has been down on form from his lofty standard.

TV’s working in the main bar with the volume up for the West Coast game garnered a good atmosphere up there after our game.

Excellent to see so many ex players get along for Tails,

One game at a time and it is Swans next week who have been in just about all of their games I think with a % of around 86
