What’s Claremont got to do with Blake enjoying North Beach’s hospitality and rubbing shoulders with their committee and sponsors last weekend?
I thought that’s what you were suggesting. Isn’t North Beach in your zone? Why raise it then? He might have played some ammos there when he left South. I thought he was living, working and playing footy in Broome when we signed him.
He was meant to come to Perth originally but couldn’t fit him in at the time.
Bad news about Clarke, but we need to take a cautious approach and have him ready for finals. Begs the question who comes in? Q is possible, but with a forecast of rain, I don’t know he’d be the best choice. I think, like last game, we play Schlensog (by the way, I think he went to Exmouth after leaving SF) as our tall forward. With Derksen, Moore and hopefully Paton and Simpson, we should have reasonable scoring options. As for a replacement for the third injury from last game, we throw the usual names forward - yes, Gray, or Thorne, or Kemp, maybe Fleiner to take up OHB’s running role in the backline.
Both Clarke and Paton named.
Jaques must be retained surely.
But Derksen out.
Kane Johnston named in the reserves.
Would rather Thorne than Hill and Fliener than BH. Great that Johnston back for first game. Yes keep Jacques
Simpson still not back is a concern. Derksen and Della not playing, but not on injury list.
I think our final line up may depend on the weather. If the rain forecast firms up, I would be reluctant to go too tall, so I’d prefer the likes of Kemp and Gray (sorry, rednblack!) to Luers or JPC. I haven’t been overly impressed by Fleiner, but I think he was the best like for like replacement for OHB and I agree with TFAF that TBH is lucky to still be there. I have no idea what Evans or John have done to press for a league game.
May be an encouragement award Ted.
Johnno hitting the park in the ressies could be key to the rest of the season. Fingers crossed he gets through the game unscathed.
Derksen running laps only at training last night. Simpson helping out with drills. Luers the in for Derksen I’d reckon.
I’m not sure why Luers has been picked. If it’s going to be wet tomorrow then we look a bit too big up forward. I’d have picked Kemp instead of Luers, or even before Hill for that matter.
Well the Brodie Gray fan club will be happy. Enjoy your day at the footy.
You Perth nuffies make me laugh! On the verge of finals for the first time in nearly 30 years (let’s forget the COVID year) and you’re questioning Mark Stones selections…..
And Brodie Gray has contributed nothing to our ladder position. His one and only game was a few weeks ago in I think our worst loss of the season. He has no offence, is just an accumulator at reserves level and supposedly a tagger at league level.
Andy Brayshaw and Tom North got 56 posessions between them and booted 2 goals each. Why do you think the highest posession getter in the reserves for the past 3 or 4 seasons hasn’t been poached by your club or any other? Think before you speak.
Well, hopefully Brodie has a good day tomorrow- looks like he’s earnt it- leading possession getter in Res comp…
North and Brayshaw had 54 between them last week- I’d say that’s common
No that was against us mate with Gray in the team. By the way he got 13 posessions and didn’t trouble the scorers. Well down on his 35 average in the two’s.
Check out Brodies stats rounds 17, 18, 19 and 20 last year..including a club record 19 tackles in round 20. He was finally given a decent run and produced good numbers.
I’m happy he has been given another go and hopefully gets a few games to prove himself again.
Lots of players struggle with the increase in tempo 1st hame back in the seniors.
Totally agree - all players need a “run” at it and more than one week to make it work.
Yes. Three games in a row, all while remembering he has a different role in the league team than he does in the Ressies team.
Look at Fyfe in AFL, in later years has to play a role and his numbers are way off what they are when he is given Carte blanch.
Are you lost fool?
Jog on flog.
rednblack, I remind you we have had 4 players walk out, two of whom, Randall and Cogs, i would have picked ahead of Gray. We have R Clarke, OBH, Simpson, Johnston, Edwards, McLean, Poole and Derksen unable to play league footy. Thorne should have been in our best 22, but has appeared undisciplined and unmotivated. That means we are choosing from players 30-35 on our list, which would test the depth of any club. Gray is surely in that group. For mine, I don’t rate TBH, Bodle or John, but our options are limited. If we were where we usually are at this point of the season, by all means blood a young player. But when we are playing wet weather footy, looking to sew up finals and press for 4th or even 3rd, I’d rather go with experience.
