This is not a game that we can take lightly. WCER had 13 AFL players v Subi. They play Friday night in Perth this week, so that means they won’t have a travelling emergency. If McGovern plays for the league team, someone like Brock makes way for him. There are suggestions that Cole and Hewett might play, and Bo Allan back from illness last week. So there could 17-18 listed players. Yes, some of them are not even WAFL standard, but they are mostly better than the top ups.

The only change I would make is to bring Thorne back. Any of Philip, Paton or McLean to make way. Simpson should sit out this week and come back through the reserves next week. I’d like to see Randall tag Kelly.

I reckon Stone or Dodd should nobble Parfitt before the game, so he under performs…another 30 + performance and the poor fella will be resigned to jumping the fence at MRP in May…and you Perth boys wiill resigned to watching him in the blue n gold instead of red n black.

Gee I hope Cody Leggett and Jack Averys’ strategy to move from a failing club to a club draped in success finally pays off for them at this years MSD. Would hate for them to start regretting their decisions.

Only club that needs to be concerned of the MSD in 2025 is Perth in all honesty DD.

Taylor is out. Not good, given he has been close to the way he played a few years ago. Simpson, Brogan-Henry and Poole all named on extended bench. The only change I’d make is Thorne for Taylor. Give Simpson another week and a run in the reserves.

Like I said, many of them are rubbish, but they’re usually better than the top up players who would otherwise play. We should win but it’s not the gimme that a game against WCER usually is

Ted, you would have to play Tarkyn-Henry given Taylor’s absence?
This is a danger game.
I’m happy Flynn is not playing given his game last week.
But I hope Edwards can at least break even with Williams.
I agree, Thorne back in I thought he was quite good against SF.

I told you guys ages ago that Paton would be a huge bonus for you once he got on the park.

Yes, Paton, Wills, Kemp amongst others have lifted their game to a new level. The kids from that Colts" side are also growing with confidence and overall we have a bit of depth in the ranks.
I like the endeavour, the run and the tackling. Keep it up boys. You are on the right track but still a work in progress.

Thanks for the info on ins and outs TF. My take on Stubbs is he was always probably unfairly expected to be or hoped to be a 40 - 50 goals a season forward which he was never going to be in this league even if he was at a stronger club.

Probably now in this team he can be an impact player that offers something different and gets the fourth best defender. I couldn’t make it today but I liked his game apart from missing two set shots. Good to see he’s got rid of the skip out to the right. Keep at it Stubba they’ll start sailing through the middle soon.

The big thing that’s stood out in our first 3 games is pressure. Pressure all over the ground. If we keep this up we win more than we lose.

Heard Simpson was limping at the end of the game. Hopefully just sore. Hasn’t played a game in 6 weeks.

A dominant second half from Perth proved the difference as they overpowered the WAFL Eagles to claim a 15.9 (99) to 9.9 (63) win at Mineral Resources Park.

The first quarter got off to a slow start with both teams failing to take advantage of their inside 50s. Jobe Shanahan kicked the first goal of the game 13 minutes in, giving the Eagles the early advantage. Lochlan Paton responded for Perth, kicking his first of four majors for the day, giving the Demons a two-point lead. With the quarter closing in, Loch Rawlinson opened his scoring account, bringing the Eagles back to within one point.

Perth quickly responded through Paton, before a terrific mark and conversion from an outnumbered Aaron Clarke extended the Demon’s lead to 14 points at the first break. The second quarter saw Clarke secure his second goal for Perth, before West Coast’s Bailey Williams showed his brute strength in a one-on-one contest, and kicking a vital goal for the blue and gold.

The Eagles continued to charge, kicking three goals in seven minutes off the boots of Shanahan, Noah Long and Coen Livingstone, bringing the margin back to just one point at the halftime break.The Demon’s elevated their game to another level in the third quarter, kicking five-unanswered majors, and holding the Eagles goalless for the term.

Rawlinson opened the final term with a much-needed goal for the Eagles, before Clarke continued his dominance for Perth, slotting three consecutive goals, and surging his team to a 43-point lead. West Coast youngster Malakai Champion sparked some hope with two quick goals in under two minutes, cutting the margin back to 31 points, before Jed Kemp iced the game with his second goal for Perth.

Clarke was a dominant presence throughout the day for Perth, finishing with seven goals and 10 marks, while Paton, who was a late selection for the Demons on the day, made the most of his opportunity with four majors. Bailey Williams was a standout for the Eagles with his ruck work and follow up, winning the hit outs for the game and finishing with 21 touches, three marks and a goal. Experienced Eagle Tom Cole worked hard, managing 32 disposals, five marks and four tackles in his WAFL return, while Bo Allan finished with 23 touches and seven marks.

While the Eagles showed promise in key stats, leading in marks (92-83), hit outs (30-25), and tackles (39-26), it was Perth’s second-half surge that proved decisive, sealing a hard-fought win and leaving the Eagles to regroup ahead of next week.
