Impossible to see a win here with another very weak team named. Cary is out, as is Langlands. Have we fielded an unchanged team in consecutive weeks any time this season? A heavy loss will see us slip to last, but if not this week, definitely next. As always, we’ll have to hope for rain. The last few days of warmer, dry weather won’t suit us at all as the surface will dry out, and the last thing we want is a fast, open game. Playing on a muddy Leederville would at least keep the margin more manageable. As it is, any loss under 5 goals would be an outstanding result. Seems Zac Sanderson is coming in. I appreciate the need to trial new players given there’s nothing left to play for. However, unless Sanderson is one of those players who does unheralded things, he is average height, average weight and his stats are modest at best.
It it sad to be cheering on the reserves, but that is the only joy we get out of this dire season. At least there we can have some hope. Richo, Rogers, Colledge, J Clark and McCarthy are named, the latter two well ahead of the schedule in the injury list. Eyres has been dropped. Three colts players, Kelly, Weymouth and Quartermaine, have been promoted. A win on Saturday will all but ensure the reserves make finals, especially with a game against the hapless Peel reserves to play. Come finals, I would assume that Bird, Perkusich, Quill and Steel would qualify, plus maybe Reid, so barring yet more injuries, we should be reasonably strong.
I’m beginning to think that the PFC should apply to the Australian Charities And Not for Profit Commission to become a tax deductable entity so that at least our memberships will qualify as a tax deduction. We may then get some benefit other than thrashing ourselves with dried birch stems year in and year out.
Excuse the jumping onto your thread but a couple of comments.
The colts got beaten but and it is a big thing, at no stage did they throw the towel in and just lack the finishing of their play.
Your ressies looked very good against a fairly strong EP side, one of the better ones of late, so well done.
The league game was similar to the ressies you just did not seemed to finish your good work against us. Disappointing but not all despair, well not as much as I feel!
Thanks Grump. You are right, in the league forward of centre we struggled. Until our zone deficiencies get sorted our colts will continue to struggle.
Good to see Rhai’Arn Cox running around for EP ressies. I hope he sticks with it. Only a few weeks ago I saw him playing B grade ammos for Mt Lawley. You’ve got a good one there in Adam Boules as well.
Some positives. Oscar Bird showed a bit up forward. Brodie Grey did a top tagging job on Ramsay and young Zac Sanderson had a solid debut and looked up to the level.
